[Suggestion] More places for contraband generation

Postby Saranis » Mon Oct 29, 2012 3:16 pm

Okay, so I have placed metal detectors at the entrances of my holding cell and canteen. Prisoners coming off the bus are all processed in the holding cell before being taken to an individual cell, and this removes ALL contraband coming into the prison via new prisoners. The only way into my kitchens are through the canteen, so prisoners cant sneak contraband out of there either.

i'd like to see more places prisoner's can acquire it, maybe homemade shivs from the yard, maybe any room with a window can have things passed through it... just more places that contraband can be generated. Cause right now, its much too peaceful.

Peaceful if you keep a freetime schedule, not so much if you keep a realistic schedule.

I agree, Prisoners should be able to make shivs in their cells from toothbrushes etc,

certains objects should be able to pass through metal detectors and only be found via shakedowns or searches.

that being said, there needs to be a method of searching cellblocks, or for guards to be passed info from a "snitch" about where a shiv is... etc.

I dont like how if you run a bad prison every prisoner has a shiv "somehow"

My prison is just far too peacefull... there needs to be gang tension, or just physical punchups for the sake of physical punchups in the prison.

Realistically, many improvised weapons are nonmetallic (toothbrushes, melted plastic.) These are not as deadly as metal weapons, but they can't be detected by metal detectors, only manual searches.

Also, it would be nice if the prisoners were smart enough to leave weapons in hiding places (maybe cells) rather than carry them through known metal detectors.

Or, when a prisoner sees a metal detector and has a metal weapon, he could quickly try to hide the weapon nearby. The player could notice this behavior and order a search.

That way, metal detectors would not be magical contraband-removers, but they would act as checkpoints to limit the flow of contraband.

Another way to make metal detectors non-overpowered would be to have them only functional when a guard is stationed nearby (maybe within 5 squares.)

Disagree, I've tried all sorts of prison regimes and layouts and so far the only ones that I found prisoners fighting a lot were the ones I intentionally set up to deny them something, such as no meal time, no sleep time in combination with little freetime, locked shower doors...

The game really is too easy at this point.
