Too Much Fighting

Postby SupernovaDX » Thu Oct 25, 2012 5:29 am

I don't know about you, but I think in the game there is too much fighting, the prisoners are always complaining about everything no matter what I give them. I think that there should be rage setting when you start a new level or something. I could be wrong, I could just be bad at the game, but that is my opinion if you guys have any better luck then I do please tell me how. (It usually has something to do with doors and the crowdedness of the doors) Also along those lines, the prisoners break things all the time that should be changed along with the other idea.

I recommend you get yourself the psychologist to see what the prisoners needs are. The prisoners only end up fighting (as far as I've experienced) when their needs are not being satisfied.
This usually comes after loud complaining which is usually easy to see and hear in the game.

To avoid this, make sure their needs are satisfied: the more tricky need can be recreation; getting the balance between nothing and freetime in the regime can help achieve this, as long as you have utilities and recreational items that can be used by the prisoners (such as making sure these objects are in an zoned area).

like nycerine said, it's pretty much all about the needs. it also helps to make sure you have enough guards, and if you encounter fights that keep breaking out in the same area try deploying guards there before another fight breaks out. like if they fight everyday at the doors to the canteen during lunch, then put a few extra guards in there during that time, they are less "likely" to fight with more guards around, but they still might.

if you are having troubles satisfying the needs try giving the link below a read, it helped me fix my regimen up a bit.

http://forums.introversion.co.uk/prison ... t=freetime

after reading that I had a few days in game, couple of hours real time, with absolutely no fights and all of the prisoners needs were pretty low..... until somebody tried to escape for some reason....

and throw some metal detectors at the doors to the canteen, or somewhere the prisoners all have to go through, so if they do fight it might not be as bad....

For what its worth, prisoners don't fight because they are all congregated at doors, they are all congregated at the doors because they don't want to be in the room any more but aren't allowed to leave. This is true of the canteen, shower and yard, and if their needs aren't being met then eventually one of them will snap and everybody else will join in.

Free time in your regime helps, as does shorter time periods for activities (2 hours tops for most things depending on prison capacity)

I've found that this works very well:

Code: Select all

12-5 AM  Freetime
   6 AM  Eat
   7 AM  Eat
8-11 AM  Freetime

  12 PM  Shower
 1-5 PM  Freetime
   6 PM  Eat
   7 PM  Eat
8-11 PM  Freetime

I don't use the 'Nothing' slot anymore at all. Most of the time, the needs chart has just a slight bit of red (very small fraction), and usually in the Food category, and yellow/green for most other things. Also, put toilets everywhere. :P

I just picked a random time for one of my current prisons, and this was actually a high level of non-statisfied needs:

I'm quite partial to this regime:

Code: Select all

    "[i 0]"               Eat
    "[i 1]"               FreeTime
    "[i 2]"               FreeTime
    "[i 3]"               FreeTime
    "[i 4]"               FreeTime
    "[i 5]"               FreeTime
    "[i 6]"               FreeTime
    "[i 7]"               FreeTime
    "[i 8]"               Eat
    "[i 9]"               FreeTime
    "[i 10]"              FreeTime
    "[i 11]"              FreeTime
    "[i 12]"              FreeTime
    "[i 13]"              FreeTime
    "[i 14]"              FreeTime
    "[i 15]"              FreeTime
    "[i 16]"              Eat
    "[i 17]"              FreeTime
    "[i 18]"              FreeTime
    "[i 19]"              FreeTime
    "[i 20]"              FreeTime
    "[i 21]"              FreeTime
    "[i 22]"              FreeTime
    "[i 23]"              FreeTime

Vary your mealtimes between 1 and 2 hours in length depending on inmate count / number of cooks & cookers / distance to traverse, etc.

Metal detectors seem to cut it down enough for me.

I simply have all freetime with meals every five hours. Not one fight since unless I get bored and lock them all in the shower room. I do hope later on they make it easier to make me put a sticter regime like a normal prison.

Hmm, I have a somewhat normal regime, a lot stricter than those, and so far with about 66 prisoners, almost never see red, only times I do is for food, and thats usually cause my cooks have a tendency to just stand about doing nothing until realising ohcrapneedtoputingredientsintocookerasap.

And half of em, are often completely satisfied & green.
