We need help with Bittorrent

Postby Chris » Fri Oct 19, 2012 11:58 am

We would very much like to speak to someone here who has expert knowledge and experience of bittorrent. If that applies to you please email chris@introversion.co.uk.

Edit: Specifically, successfully uploading / seeding / listing torrent files.

Chris really wants to see the new James Bond film, but can't afford to go to the cinema? :P

Yeah. Would be useful. People might be great at creating torrent files, but not have a clue how to run a tracker.

Given torrents Chris (I think?) created for [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], I suspect it's more for tracker set up.

Edit: Ninja'd by Chris' edit.

I know it's not quite what you're asking for, but if you need some seeders for torrents that will get used by PA, I do have a seed box that's sitting on a 100Mbs connection. If/when you have a tracker set up, make sure there's an RSS feed on it and I can auto download every torrent and host it for as long as needed.

Without knowing more I could be totally off here but instead of going to the effort of hosting/maintaining trackers etc. you can use bittorrent to download files from S3 instead.

I once downloaded a World of Warcraft patch via torrent.
Not sure if that's what you are after though. :-D

May I ask why you don't simply read the official bittorrent protocol? It's not very complicated :)

As Chris' post suggests, knowledge != experience.

Plus, I'm pretty sure Chris has better things to worry about.
