I really hope they add more to Workshops and jobs prisoners can do. Farming, Furniture Making, Plate Stamping, Textile mills, etc. All varying in cost and Profit. Maybe some kind of bonuses per different workshop. Farming decreases food costs, Textile mills decrease prisoner upkeep, Furniture Mills decrease cost of beds, benches, etc. while certain industry options eg plate stamping, are purely profit.

Be cool to have special buildings or events for prisoners to brake up prisoner monotony and temporary happiness boosts for prisoners partaking. Small stuff like team sports, or large events similar to the Angola Rodeo. Really though I hope the devs use their imagination for this one. Arts and Craft shows(This is a thing that actually happens in prisons), Boxing matches, Baseball tourneys, really anything to make stuff more unique.

Also hope they add prisoner development or rehab. Classrooms to offer Highschool Diplomas and secondary Education and things like Teachers. Could also make the Therapist more involved with therapy and rehab sessions.

This one is less of a suggestion and more like a gripe; There needs to be more animations for prisoners doing activities. Doesn't need to be complicated. Prisoners holding Pool Ques while there are pool balls on the billiards table, or prisoners holding and lifting weights. Little comic bubbles while talking on pay phones similar(but obviously not as involved) as The Sims.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the Regime control is great, with freetime, shower, eat, yard. But if you could make it a little more advanced so you could give different regimes to different cell blocks, this way you wouldn't need massive canteens, showers and such, and would give the chefs for example a more of a spread out work load, and mean for example stationing a warden in the yard, he would have people there all day, not just for a few hours, then the rest of the time he stands around guarding an empty yard.

I'm sure this regime idea could be expanded easily. :)

Prisoners should be able to hide contraband in objects. Beds, benches, bookshelves drains etc. could then be searched.

Prisoner inventory ?

Postby christoffer5700 » Wed Apr 24, 2013 6:57 pm

i think it would be a nice feature with a prisoner inventory
so you click search prisoner ( like normaly ) and then another pop up menu appears with the option to 1( Search prisoner automaticly ) 2( Search prisoner manually ) if you click on botton 2 an inventory screen would appear and you would be able to see both contraband and normal stuff like, Money ( both coins and bills ) Food, Weapons, drugs, keys. it would be a good feature to have a guard "miss" the prisoner's knife for an example

Should the staff need to sleep? They seem to be machines! Robots perhaps. Staff Room feature would be great. Don't want Staff to get too complicated, but a simple tired meter to along with their health might not be a bad idea. As a consequence you would need more staff though, $200 a day seems a bit steep for a normal guard anyway though.

Also wondering if there should be sub-menus for objects, its getting quite full with objects, little overwhelming for n00bs perhaps.

@DosedMonkey you would need to be able to do things in shifts with prisoners to be able to do shifts with staff.

Eg: Eat - CellBlock1 StaffRotation1
Eat - CellBlock 2 StaffRotation2

Just had an idea: How about pigs? I you cook more meals than you need, you could feed the leftovers to the pigs and either sell them to make some cash or slaughter and cook them. Could be an addition to meal quality / variety. Also it would create some jobs for prisoners who look after them. This would probably require a vet, which would also allow the implemention of guard dogs that was suggested in a different thread.

I think that risks veering into SimFarm territory.

If I may suggest. A unique prisoner who shows up unannounced called Michael Scolfield who is here to break his brother out and is good at escaping :)

If prisoner suicides are put in the game, i think suicide watch should also be put in. Maybe even have suicide watch cell blocks (or whatever the proper term is)

also maybe put in protective custody

A psychiatrist with adjustable tendencies, pacify with loads of drugs, or just give what is needed. They should collect the medicine at a guard office.

Where im from most low (and medium) security prisons have a shop, for daily items, and prisoners cook their own food.. And the sharp knifes are fastened to a wire.

Special cells should could be used for the worst inmates to keep them totally isolated from everything, and equipped with an allmost, or fully indestructible, very expensive toilet. For 24 hour isolation.

Staff and prisoner meeting, for low security prisons where prisoners can voice their opinion, some wan't different things, so you can then be informed of what the majority wan't.

punishment severity should be adjustable.

First i wanna say i think you guys got a great game in the works and i hope you continue to improve upon it.

As for some suggestions i'd like to see:
More options for the planning section, I saw this on the list already but i really wanted to reinforce that. It'd be great if i could mark an outline as say "cell block A" before i actually lay the foundation.
Hotkeys for different staff units(guards, doctors, janitors)
Assigning guards to prison doors so prisoners bunch up waiting for someone to open the door.
Ability to name administrative staff members would be cool. I could be the Warden and patrol the cell blocks to show my prisoners i'm not afraid of them. :)

That's all i can think of at the moment. I think anything else i'll post em here.

I have one more idea.

Deployment staff by the time of the day. If all prisoners are at the yard I dont need guards in canteen - cctv should be enough. Same for work, why do we need a guard in workshop, while everyone is showering ;)?

Same for the doors to areas... Doors for workshop closed until the work time is on. Of course guard will come and open or close them, but it should be able to be done by scheduling.

What do you guys think ?

(Sorry if I made some language mistakes)
