How about adding some factions - I know it has been mentioned in a way that said "implement factions from different cell blocks".
What I'd like to see were gangs like the Arian Brotherhood or MS13 so you have to keep those apart from each other and create your prison accordingly. Also these gangs should be able to expand and recruit within your prison.
Maybe I misunderstood the first suggestion and it was meant exactly like this, but it sounded like they should form gangs according to the cellblocks they were in rather than being affiliated before coming to the prison.

Are there plans for a proper prisoner economy?
I think most prisons have some method of letting prisoners 'buy' items such as letter writing material, candy, etc based on a regular allowance.
You guys should implement something similar where prisoners are given some in game amount based initially on behavior (then on prison employment http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 351AA1U8oq). They purchase things based on need (candy if they hate the food, pens and paper for writing letters, radios and books if they are bored). Then you can make prisoners become jealous of each other and fight each other. In addition you could try and add some sort of barter behavior so you have a prisoner to prisoner economy which you could use to set up relationships and alliances between prisoners.

Hi all
A little idea which appears not to be in the list yet and has been discussed. maybe its worth taking it on the list:
Assumption: There are events or circumstances where power can go out (as in power generator fails either by random even or by overdoing it)
Idea: Making important equipment which needs a direct power line (such as metal detectors, kitchen oven and fridge, and all that might be coming) able to connect to two different power lines coming from different power generators without counting as "cross connecting" those two lines (like in data centers).
If the power goes out on one line (one power generator) for a reason, the equipment still works if the second line (second generator) is still working properly. Therefore having no downtime in equipment.
Drawback: you need to buy a new generator for that, pay its maintenance (if that will be introduced in the game) and you are not allowed to directly cross those two power lines at any other places other than the "plug" of the equipment (as before, which might a challenge in itself).
Best regards

As part for fix for zoom in/out could you please expand the camera panning bounds so that you pan the edge of the map to the center of the screen when zoomed out?
This would add even more flexibility in conjunction with zooming to mouse pointer as you would be able to do a pan/zoom to any spot without even having to move the mouse off the center if desired. It would eliminate that repeated zoom in, pan, zoom in, pan thing I keep having to do...especially on the medium/large map.

More right click functionality
Can you add right clicking goes back a step on the menus? As in, you have an item selected, but right clicking deselects it.
Decrepid conditions
How about linking the disrepair of the buildings/equipment to the mood of inmates?
General decay over time, if not repaired, could give escapees a weak spot.
You could have a new employee - painter and decorator, who had the job of... well you guess, but who could be sent in after a riot to make it look like things are back to normal, but just under the plaster things are looking weak and escapable - but he'd work much faster and cheaper than the repair people who'd make it strong once again. They could cheer inmates up, by making every thing look nice and magnolia - hey everyone loves magnolia. I said everyone!

A Few of My Initial Suggestions
This list looks great so far, I've just started playing this game but me and some friends came up with some ideas while playing yesterday that I thought I would share in here.
- Multiple stories for buildings: I believe instead of simply having so start or expand the map size for additional buildings, it would be awesome to be able to add multiple stories for each building. Adding stairways, railings, guard railings to dictate snipers to watch over the prisoners in cell blocks on, etc. etc. This would be an excellent way to expand the prison's capacity without feeling as limited to how large your prison could get. You could even add connectable walk-ways from different stories that would connect to other buildings like bridges - Add staff only doors/zones to these and you could allow staff quicker access from one area to another, or prisoners on higher floors to access the canteen/yard/etc. quicker.
- Additional buildings such as Churches, Laundry Mats, Visitation Centers, etc.
- Additional items for the yard (Basketball goals, bleachers, etc.)
- Guard towers to allow guards to watch over prisoners in the yard without being put in immediate danger.
I'll add more to this thread later on as I come up with ideas.

Deadeye
What about the possibility of adding towers (I know elevation levels have been discussed, this is different) in which guards can post watch to extend the range of the the proposed lethal force zones?

Building awesome prisons for free, removes the impressiveness of those people building prisons with in the money restraints. A slightly (I exagerate this point, an easy mode should be completed by every one, just at a slower pace if they aren't the brightest bulb in the box) challenging game usually has more life span.

I would like to see a feature which allows the gamer to replay an escape event. Maybe only unlockable with CCTV monitoring. In one of the many prisons I have built, as I was building an addition, I had one prisoner escape and I have no idea how it happened. I am not upset, but it would be quite entertaining to watch how it occurred after the fact.
Cheers
