How often are updates released and where can they be downloaded?

Unless you have a Mac there haven't been any yet (though the bug tracker does show some items marked as fixed next patch)

I think the healthy response to this is "when it's ready". Lay off the guesswork and speculation, hell even take the developer's word with a pinch of salt. This advice will see you a much happier, less disappointed gamer.
