[Build/Bugs/Brawl] Summer Camp 3 - 400+ prisoners

Postby sekiselu » Fri Oct 05, 2012 1:34 am

Much !!FUN!! was had. I believe with simple expansion this prison could reach 600-700 prisoners. However, after 10 days of good growth followed by 41 days of 8 prisoners per day, I am calling it finished. The prison is fully autonomous, no manual intervention required (other than fixing the schedule after loading).

It appears there are no negative effects to having contraband in your prison, so long as prisoners are happy. I stopped screening prisoners for contraband around day 10, and by reading through the save there are at least 5 guns and 10 knives (not to mention a pile of other contraband items) currently in my prison. For best results, load the save, set the entire schedule to "Yard" and wall the doors over. Then you can have !!FUN!! too!

Somewhere along the way I was able to make my prisoners perfectly happy, EXCEPT that they would each go raid the canteen for knives during free time. Sadly, this was before day 10, so the ~10 or so knives that were grabbed each day were confiscated.

If people are interested, I will write up some observations about the pathfinding, jobs, and general prison design. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing how large a prison I can build in Alpha 2!

That is fantastic!

I am interested, how did you go about assigning cells with a toilet and bed? I notice the toilets are all along a wall. Is the entire room one big cell, or a series of small ones?

He does not use cells at all. It´s one big holding cell with loads of beds in it.

This is the design I've been using on my latest prison, one huge holding cell that has everything required in it, and a schedule that is mostly freetime with a few hours a day for eating. Up to 150 without a single incident (have metal detectors outside kitchen, seems to be helping, maybe). No stuck prisoners so far, although sometimes the pathfinding/decision making gets a bit confused and I have 1 prisoner during food time running back and forth between doors of canteen and the holding cell complaining about something (always a different need).
