Min Specs

Postby Mark » Tue Oct 02, 2012 10:44 am

We're getting quite a few support requests asking for the min specs for PA. Do any of you have some oldish machines that you could try the build on to help us figure out the baseline?

The game runs quite well in the tutorial on my 6 years laptop :

CPU : intel Core2Duo T7200 @ 2Ghz
RAM : 2GB DDR2
GPU : 7900GS 256MB

There're framerate hits when I zoom out the whole map but still playable.

AMD A6-3400 1,40 ghz
4 go ddr 3
Dual graphic Ati 6520 + 7450M

Coz lag at start, 25 fps then when 20 prisonner 15 fps.

Due to problem with dual graphic. Open gl use only my discrete card not the dedicated one.

Game is running fine on an old P4 3.6Ghz with an x850 XT. Old hardware, but it was decent at the time.

CPU: Pentium 4 3.6Ghz
GPU: Radeon X850 XT
RAM: 3GB DDR2 at an unknown speed

Can confirm that it won't run on my 486, even with the turbo button on.

Genius! Doesn't run on my P1 laptop either. (actually it's probably a desktop, looking at the size of it)
In prison, you get your own toilet. At work, you have to share.

Runs reasonably well on my old laptop:

Core 2 Mobile 2.0GHz
3GB RAM
Integrated Intel graphics chipset

Just tends to HCF whenever a memory leak kicks in and the swapfile is sprayed.

Works well on my Macbook Pro (mid 2009), OSX 10.8.2, 2.26 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 5 GB ram (1067 MHz DDR3). I've been running the game on an external screen, first in a "window" in the lower left corner of my screen (with windowed set to false, and width and height set to 0, respectively), then in windowed mode (1920 x 1000). No performance issues yet (though I usually get to around 40 prisoners before deciding that my prison is flawed, and start over).

However, the game ran sluggish when I set ScreenMultiSample to "true", so I've been running it set to "false". It also began to feel sluggish when I had run a prison on a large map for about half an hour. Small and medium maps pose no problem.

It ran on my work lappy, but not 100% smooth - and didn't get very far into the game to properly "stress test" it due to prisoner count.

OS: XP
Intel Centrinto@ 2.18GHz
1.89GB RAM - Shared with whichever builtin videocard it has
Didn't have a mouse that allowed me to click on the middlemouse/mouse3 so I couldn't rotate objects, so I gave up actually testing it with more than my 8 workers.

Intel Core2Duo E7500 @ 3.3GHz
4GB DDR2 rams~
GeForce 8800 GT

runs great! however, my graphics card decided to die (unrelated, tis old and was refurbished recently, it did well to last so long!) and my 'back-up' is some silly GeForce 7300 LE.

7300 LE does not run the current alpha in any playable state - you'd be ripping your hair out from all the stuttering ;)

[now i just need to wait for my replacement card to arrive so i can continue caring for my prisoners!]

AMD Zacate E-350 dual core 1.6ghz
4GB of RAM
AMD HD 6310 GPU integrated.

Seems to work fine, at least on the early stages of the game.

Playable on the following, however at 30 prisoners + it starts to lag quite a bit;

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual CPU T3400 @ 2.16GHz
RAM: 2.00GB
GFX: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
OS: Win7
