[Bug] Workers moving utilities?

Postby mj1176 » Tue Oct 02, 2012 6:45 am

Not sure whether it's a malfunctioning intended feature or a bug, but twice now one of my workers has decided to pick up my generator or water pump and move it to some asinine location. I'm really having fun playing this, but I cant go fifteen minutes without something breaking the game :(

Are you by any change right-clicking while having the generator or waterpump selected?

I know I am, does that move them?

If so I would suggest chainging that.

Moving the generator by accident is a serious mistake, it should take more than a simple right mouse click.

The inadvertent moving of critical pieces of machinery has been bugging me too. In general, I think the right-click behavior needs a once over for consistency. Either right-click should always cancel, or it should always place an item, with ESC cancelling. As it is, sometimes it seems the left and right click do the exact same thing, but in other states left selects while right issues orders, or vice versa, etc.

Do it once, learn not to do it again. Problem solved?

Not really, this has more to do with good user interface design. It should be intuitive.

fallenphoenix also makes a very good point: It should be consistent.
