[Suggestion] Janitors/gardeners spread out a bit more?

Postby xyzyxx » Sun Sep 30, 2012 11:20 pm

I've hired four janitors, and they always seem to follow each other, cleaning as a team. Wouldn't it make more sense for them to split up and cover more ground?

Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

Safety in numbers?

But yes, I've noticed this. Same with Gardeners.

It probably has to do that when they complete their jobs they just look for the closest job they can find and do that one. I'd say i like it seeing groups of janitors work in my prison.

They appear to work in the same was as the workmen, so where there are automatically queued tasks around the map (from things needing cleaning) they head over together and do the are before moving on.

Even if you set on off on a different task, eventually they'll end up clumped up again (in my experience)

Makes perfect sense. It's a mixture of how jobs are queued and the vicinity to the nearest job. Construction workers do it as well.

I would personally prefer setting areas for them, akin to the handyman zoning in Themepark/rollercoaster tycoon.

I agree it makes sense, programming wise. I guess what I'm thinking now is a feature request rather than a bug report.
