Wow, that's not overcrowded at all.

I tend to build two canteens that face each other, to cut down on the chances of a 40-man brawl.

I thought about doing that myself, haven't done it yet, so i can ask you:
Do the inmates split in even groups at feeding time? Or do they just walk to the nearest and you have one canteen with ~30 and one with ~5 customers?

They go to the nearest one first, and will go to the other if there are no meals left there.

I always have two or three cell blocks, so the distribution is pretty even anyway.

In my experience in any circumstance where you have multiples of something prisoners seem to have a 'favorite'. Can be annoying when your trying to have two completely seperate, independant wings and prisoners from one side want to eat on the other side and just hang around the locked doors making trouble.
