This seems unnecissary complex. Expecially since there's a limit on how many capacitors you can have per generator. Seeing how only the ones build against the generator actually work.

In what way is it overly complex? Just needs a little bit of thought to have different generators powering different parts of your prison.

Well for one it doesn't make any sense that having two generators makes both of them short circuit like that.

If you think it would make sense that two generators could be attached to each other without any kind of problems then you've clearly never studied electronics to any degree.

If you think that a game where the most complex electrical component consists of a big cable, and a switch can even begin to handle any of the inherent issues with the above, you are asking to be ridiculed - hard. :P

It's a game of abstraction, not a simulator (of this particular element anyway) - video game logic. One generator = power, two = more power. It's not like the water pressure starts ripping pipes in half when you connect more than one water plant either (not that you'd need to right now)

From interviews and pre release stuff it seems that the realisms of the systems is something thats really important to Chris.

Personally I don;t see a problem with it. I always build my prison in zones anyway so I allocate generaotrs accordingly

And how much electronics have you studied?

Generators connected in parallel are not uncommon.

Would make more sense to me if generators were emergency use only - like during riots/lockdowns.

It's not like we're off the grid or anything.

An interesting point - A substation (I believe they're called in english) is what you'd expect for regular day to day use of such a big facility. And then you'd have emergency power generators with capacitors for riots and natural disasters where "grid power" isn't possible.

Yea, exactly.

That's something that would be owned/installed/maintained by the power company.

Ideally we'd get a power bill based on usage (same for water).

Basically, an incentive not to have lots of large, mostly empty, buildings with the lights on.

Hah - and imagine the trouble if the inmates got into the substation.
