[Suggestion] Make the buffet table act as a wall.

Postby Illanair » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:23 am

Instead of having the chefs have to walk into the canteen room, how about the buffet tables have two "sides" and act as a wall? Like you'd expect from a regular canteen. The chefs insert meals on one side and the "customer" withdraws it on the other side.

They'd be at less risk of being attacked (until the table is destroyed and the prisoners gain access to the kitchen)

+1 on this. Lost all of my chefs during a riot, didn't realise until the next day when there was no food. Guess what? It caused another riot! Bah.

/signed.

This is how I thought they did work at first and I made a room just small enough that the serving table would block the servers from the "customers".. people just walk through it though :(

Either way it doesn't hurt to make suggestions :)

This should definite be an upgrade or something, its kinda cool if we could research or buy better stock, like in the beginning cooks have to walk into the kanteen then later on you get improved serving tables .

oh yes... That !

Also, I never know which side is the right one, so my serving table probably are facing the wall ...

Lucky for you it doesn't have a "facing" yet. It only has "vertical" and "horizontal" so you just put it against a wall and it works.

I figured out, when you first select an item, it will always face down. So if you want to place the serving-table on a north-wall, just select and place, south-wall => double mid-click.

I was confused about some prisoners sitting on a bench facing the wall behind, the bench was build in that direction. After dismantle and build up again, this time correctly, everything was fine.

i made this misstake as well. My first dining room had a smaller kitchen in it, seperating it with walls.

Definately a good idea, tried it when I first played then realised they could walk through it.

A must have in future builds!

Absolutely! I had a lot of trouble with weapons sneaking in through the kitchen by prisoners "hopping over" the serving area.
