What level is your parole threshold set at in Alpha 31?

What level for the parole cut off are you using in your alpha 31 prisons? I've not played PA since alpha 22 and jumped right into alpha 31 not giving parole much thought. I merrily set the threshold at 25%.

After a few hours of playing I read up on the release notes for alphas 29, 30 and 31, I then saw there is a failure condition if 10 people re offend after early release from parole! My prison has let out 75 prisoners by early parole and 8% have re offended - so 6 prisoners. That is getting worryingly close to the failure condition after just 35 game days so I think I'm going to lower my threshold!

I usually have mine set at 3 or 5%. I keep them in as long as possible. That way they get reformed. One legendary came in at 97% re-offend, but was paroled at 2%.

I've lost a couple of parole lawyers from angry inmates with the "deadly" trait. Dead lawyers don't count as deaths in your prison though. There's a joke in there somewhere...

I've adjusted mine down to 15%. Will see how long it takes me to hit the failure condition in this prison. I guess if the condition is 10 re offenders with no time limit applied then eventually every prison will fail unless the parole threshold is set to 0%, Maybe that failure condition needs to be adjusted?

Interesting point about the lawyers, I hadn't noticed that they don't count towards the death count! I've lost a few to 'deadly' inmates too and more than a couple to my 'volatile' inmates.

that reminds me, I had a legendary prisoner attack another guy, moved him to super max sec, 24 hours lockdown. Next day it says 3 dead bodies, turns out the moment the guy got out of lockdown, he went ahead and killed 3 ARMED guards. I was left scratching my head lol. The guy was 3 years from the end of his sentence but now I got him for 78 more.

No, if you go to the prisoner profile it will have there reoffend chance, the parole policy is how high of a reoffend chance can they have and still be released. I set mine to 15%. All prisoners recieve a parole hearing at 50 and 75%

I usually go for 20% with lots of reform programs. Works quite nicely, had one or two reoffenders in a 200 max-sec prison, running for about 60 in-game days.

I am finding that even with (max) 160 prisoners, the 2 parole rooms can't keep up with the demand for parole hearings. I have them going 6AM to 10PM and can't seem to catch up.

You can now build more parole rooms and have more than 1 session going on at the same time.

I believe I have my cut-off at 13%. They usually have not participated in reform programs enough if it is higher than that.

That would explain why hardly anyone was attending shop class and the regular classes. Luckily I'm only at 10% reoffending, phew. I reset it down to 3% and now the classes are jammed with inmates.

On topic, allow me to share one anedocte from my prision. New day, I check the status, x prisioners up to parole, one to be released soon... and then the escape icon and alarm went off. someone managed to dig a tunnel (hm, there's a song there somewhere) all I able to do was to open his file before he desapeared on the edge of the map... strange... the prisioner time bar was full, could it be...?

Yes. The prisioner that escaped was set to be released at that very same day. And the game did not counted it as an escape! guess he was too proud of his engineering feat to not to use it
