Downside to using Perimeter wall?
Expanding my prison, the foundation uses the perimeter wall as one of the outside walls. Is this bad? Make any difference?
Re: Downside to using Perimeter wall?
As far as I know the security of your prison would not be compromised...
Just might not look right if you're OCD

The inability to run utilities under them. That is it tho aside from the cost.

perimeter fence slows down tunnels a lot but still, try and grab them before they reach that far!

The come with the concrete floor or paving or whatever when you build, which kinda drives me crazy (but maybe that's just me), and they're more expensive than fences.
Very useful for keeping prisoners where you want them, though.

thats what stops the tunnels. It is a trade off.

Doesn't stop the tunnels, just slows them down. Funniest thing I have seen is a tunnel go right up the centre of my prison on a small map and run along side the perimeter wall towards the road where there was no perimeter walls because all the offices and staff buildings are there. It would have been quicker to tunnel under the perimeter wall, but I wasn't complaining because it meant I was able to locate the tunnel and provent any escaping through it (was late in getting dogs, lesson learned).

Re: Downside to using Perimeter wall?
depends on how small the building is - I wanted to use perimeter walls as indoor walls in my supermax block for style points - turned out that bulldozing just the walls and placing perimeter walls there completely broke the laundry delivery. Once I made the surroundings of the cells indoor again things were working fine, so watch out when doing such things - you may encounter some weird bugs.
