Reminds me of that guy who built a bomb out of playing cards. He cut out the hearts and diamonds and filled them all into a hollowed out bedpost. When it was full, he filled it with water and let it sit next to the radiator. Back then, there was some chemical in the red color of those playing cards that could react violently with water.
He used the bomb to succesfully commit suicide.
