Prisoners Not Leaving Rooms

Postby Zife » Mon May 05, 2014 8:44 pm

Started playing the game and have run into a problem a couple times. My prisoners don't use any of the facilities, they only stay in their room. I have a shower, yard, canteen, common room, and visitor center - but they don't use them. It has happened twice now, and it seems to occur when I start building single cells (after having them all in the holding room) and my prisoners move there. All the facilities were used before - but just seem to suddenly stop.

Any help?

Check your deployment tab, if there is a flashing yellow in that room. It means it is inaccessible. Meaning you need to demolish some fences near the room or restart building a new foundation and demolish that building. It happen to me before due i put some fences near my foundation it causes some bug.

Nah all buildings are accessible. My employees go in and out of the rooms. The cooks make food and serve it in the canteen, just no prisoners go.

Figured it out. I think the way I was building the foundations and the doors messed up the prisoner AI. While my employees could pass through, the prisoners couldn't without being forced by a guard. I had to delete the door, build a foundation for those two tiles, and rebuild the door.

Screenshots of you regime schedule and deployment map would help (or an uploaded .prison file).

Hey - Yeah definitely. Here are Screenshots and the prison file. I added an extra meal time when I attempted to fix it (after the screenshot). It worked once, but now again they are not eating. Looking at the values almost half my population is in critical Food condition and hygiene condition.

Those blue areas are the problem---your prisoners have no valid path to get out of their cell blocks. They are zoned for minimum security prisoners, but you have only medium security prisoners, hence they are not allowed there. Rezone them as general population or medium security, and you will be fine.

Ah I miss read/interpreted the zoning. I thought it was level of guard presence - that makes a lot of sense now. Thanks!
