Hi, I'm pretty new to this game but it seems like every time there's a riot, it messes everything up. I had a small riot in my most recent prison which I gained control over quickly, yet now there are corpses all over my yard which aren't being dealt with, a very large portion of my prisoners are stuck in their cells for days with handcuffs on and all my guards are doing is derping around, moving inmates from one corner of a cell to another(corner).
I'm pretty sure the post-riot AI needs some serious work, but in the mean time has anyone found a way to fix this? I have 300 inmates in my prison, I can't have 150 of them just sitting in their cells with handcuffs. Who's gonna make me license plates and beds and stuff?

If anyone else has this problem, I found that closing the doors to the cell blocks fixes it. I had them permanently open to speed up movement through the prison.

Do you have a morgue with slabs in it? That would probably why the dead aren't being dealt with if you don't have one.

Hey,
Do you have Solitary Confinement rooms? Lacking those could be the reason for your inmates being in cuffs and not doing anything.

Suggestion build fences at the edge of your map. Fences are free. This will prevent prisoner to escape but be warn they could also tunnel and escape but that's a different story. Also in the first campaign you can turn off your prisoner intake in your report tab and focus on building fences and road gate in your map.
Be patient, use the planning tool like drawing some building first before you construct them. Also you can use the grant tab in your report tab as your tutorial. Completing grant task will give you money.

This. If you design you prison well, you should never have a riot, even with max-sec only prisoners. The only exception being early on when you might have a large number of prisoners come in at once who have a lot of needs maxing out.
Re: Riot messes everything up
These are all good suggestions here. Definitely A) make sure you have a Morgue set up with slabs, and B) make sure you have Solitary cells set up. If you take a look at one of your cuffed prisoners, it should say something to explain what "queue" he's in, like "waiting to be escorted to Solitary". I had this happen in one of my early prisons, and didn't even realize that the game tells you what each prisoner/staff member is doing, or waiting to do.
Re: Riot messes everything up
Thanks for the replies but they're kinda off topic. I had plenty of solitary cells, no issue with escaping prisoners, I had a morgue, the prison was max-sec only and didn't have a single death up until that riot which was caused by me completing the starve-your-prisoners-for-48-hours grant. Also a huge workshop, 5 fully booked psychologists, classrooms, laundry, prisoners working in the kitchen etc. Pretty much the only thing this prison is missing atm is for 5 people to pass that general education thing, which seems kind of impossible. I have like 50 prisoners who passed the foundation education and only one who's passed general so far. Also haven't played since my last post, kind of feel like I maxed out on stuff to do in the game.

Make sure that the door are not forced opened. I think the best thing is to post a screenshot and let's if we find something.
Re: Riot messes everything up
The posts weren't off-topic, we were trying to give suggestions of common causes of the problem you were seeing (inmates just sitting around with cuffs on). Again, if you mouse-over one of those inmates, the pop-up should explain what he's doing, or what he's waiting for someone else to do (like escorting him somewhere). Or, as also mentioned, some screenshots might help.
Re: Riot messes everything up
Just hada riot last night and my perfectly quiet money-maker went to hell in' a hand basket ...
260ish normal sec prisoners... Never any major problems, danger lvl always low.... While building a wing to accommodate an additional 50 or so I'm working on the shower... It's more than half-way plumbed and inmates are using it... Then allasudden... I short-circuit something and power dies... Boom! Riot! Before I know it half my prion has burned down and there's dead bodies everywhere! Pre-riot my facility was worth about 600k, post riot it was Negative 2.5 Million!
Thank the Board of Corrections for saves !!

Re: Riot messes everything up
I also have this same problem. I had 2 huge riots back to back, and now have about 50 dead people laying around my prison. They are stacked 3 high on my morgue slabs, and the morgue trucks are lined up waiting to take them away.
