Hi all,
how about an option when you start a new game to disable digging or "less" digging? Every night i search my prisoners and more than 70% are allready in the underground.
I am playing Alpha12 at the moment to have a change to get in the game... because for a beginner, all the digging is to heavy.
Think about the option when starting a new prison... would be really nice. Thank you.

Greetz,
Wait for alpha14, it is said that they will take heavy nerf meaning you will rarely encounter prisoners digging...

It would probably ruin the game for me, being able to choose how much your prisoners want to break out.... Kinda defeats the object of making a prison.
Re: New Game Option - No Digging
While it is true that IV are planning on decreasing the number of tunneling attempts in the future, this bit is alarming:
If you are running your prison well, you should not be seeing such numbers. I have a small prison with 96 high security prisoners, and searching once every four or five days turns up only a few tunnels. If 70% of your prisoners are trying to escape by tunneling every day, you might try to better meet their need for freedom (i.e. give more free time) or do a better job of preventing tools from reaching cells (install more metal detectors, for instance).
Not to be overly pedantic, but don't you mean alpha 13? As I recall, tunneling didn't exist in alpha 12.

Correct. He said he's playing alpha 12 to get into the game without tunneling.

Man, I've reread that sentence several times now, and I still can't parse it. :\

Sounds like you need some sleep. It's not that bad. Just replace "change" with "chance" and it's nearly perfect.

Ah! Now it makes sense.

Ups sorry for the mistake :-/ Of course it should be "chance".
Of course i don't want to kill this feature. But if you could choose between "to stupid to hold a spoon" and "shovel-hands" and maybe two or three levels in between, it would be great.
So you can chosse the hardcore-level and let the beginner-level for me.

One would think that your "Too Stupid to Hold a Spoon" and "Shovel Hands" prisoners types could be modeled by one of the hidden traits that prisoners have (in fact, it may even be done already). The difference between minimum, medium, and maximum security prisoners is then related to the number and/or severity of the disaster-causing hidden traits that prisoners have. For example, minimum security prisoners have a low propensity towards violence and are less likely to attempt escape, whereas maximum security prisoners are more likely to riot and try to break out (on average, of course).
This is a long and roundabout way of saying that the mechanism for setting these kinds of levels already exists: for an easier game only admit minimum security prisoners, and for a hard game only admit maximum security prisoners. Obviously, the balance isn't entirely there yet, but the game isn't feature complete yet, either, so fine balance shouldn't be expected.
