finally got to the end today and was able to complete all grants except the two lawyer related ones about fires

I forgot to mention: I'm interested to know the order of grants you took to success, particularly in the first few days.

Also, which of the grants were most annoying or most enjoyable to complete? Were there any that paid too much or too little?

And lastly, overall did you find it too easy, spot on, or too difficult?

Thanks heaps and congrats again!

Argh, forgot to click notify when a reply is posted so just saw this.

Have played it through a few more times since, great fun. Naturally went for the 100k straight off the bat and setup a basic prison. I usually leave the 'build 3 rooms' quest (forget the name) to near the end and when the guys are asleep, over a day or two modify the prison to put a workshop, holding cell and laundry in the appropriate places.

I'd then get the little ones out of the way like cellblock, doctors, etc and get a workshop up and running as soon as possible. Your tip of think big start small is spot on. I end up using the entire map of small at the end as I wait to get 100k, and then let the prison tip over to 80 guys, which pays back the 100k I loaned at the start, then manage it till 100 is hit.

The random quantity missions are awesome and difficult at the same time, key is to hear for the ding when you place something and keep a note on the percentages.

Other grants you could add could be to do with hitting x number of people with jobs, find x number of tunnels, (unsure if possible) but add one like 'survive the riot' where it sets everyone's needs at critical and when you reach 1 bar again after that, get 10k or something, etc but overall love it, great work :)

Will probably download it again later today and run through it again heh. It's not hard for me to do now, but the initial play through and figuring out how to actually get through it was an awesome challenge

Great, glad you liked it, and thanks for providing helpful feedback. I haven't yet tried playing using the bailout loan, so it was interesting to hear how you went. I usually try for no loan at all, but end up having to take the 10k loan (and sometimes the middle one).

Anyway, thanks again and good luck on your next attempt.

(oh, and sorry for the slow response, I've been away)

issue: The Outsourcing grant told me to build a canteen (was in the same place as my existing canteen), a security office (middle of my cell block.. reassigned room and fitted with objects so it was recognised) and an Infirmary. The infirmary I just could not get to be recognized by the grant although i had it built in the correct spot and it was equipped like it should be... in the end i gave up and changed the Grant status to "Completed" and gave myself my deserved 30k from that in the savegame file ;-)

Exact the same shit with the infirmary. :x
Maybe that's some bug in the script worth to be checked?

I'll now also try to "complete" this Grant via savegame file. Hope I find out how.

Sounds like there's a bug with the outsourced infirmary. I'll check it out and hopefully fix it for the next release.

Quick question...

- Does the mod work with the Steam version?

- If I install the mod can I still play the normal game without the mod?

- Why did you choose 100 Prisoners as the victory condition? On the normal small map without extensions in the normal game having 150 prisoners riot free running smoothly is no problem at all

- You write in your changes about "More balancing of prices & payouts" Do you mean the price of items there and if yes is there somewhere a list of changes to the prices you made? Atleast in the readme I could not find anything.

Curious to try it out cause as I said normal game already is way too smooth.

Edit: Ok got it to work. But can someone explain me in wich way this version should be harder then the normal version at the beginning please?
Since with the 100k 30k 10k loan you get alot of money to build everything you need at the beginning. (ok the 10k one is kinda useless cause you have to pay it back too early but with the other 130k on loan you get nearly everything build)

And what do you mean per download at those random stuff? Per new game it is not... restarting the game doesnt change the position of the Design Decisions or Land Lease. Newly unzipping the GFC files and copying it in the game folder doesnt change a thing either... is that a once per version difference you mean?

Hmm ok tried the mod yet and so far I have to admit I am slightly disappointed.
I kinda have the feeling the mod makes the game ALOT easier then it already is.

So far My Prison with the mod - Day 5 at 0.01 AM

Cells: 0/30 + Holding Cell with 10 Beds so can house up to 40 prisoners
Staff: 6 Guards, 10 Worker, 1x Janitor, 1x Gardener, 2x Nurse and all Specialists,
Burecracy: completly done except Land Expansion
Cash: 10k left and a daily income of -1.900
Laundry with 3 Washing Machines and stuff - space for 17 prisoners
2x Cleaning Cupboard for combined 20 Prisoners
Workshop with 10x Saw and 10x Press so ready for 20 prisoners
10 Metal Detectors and CCTV with 12 Cameras.

Grants to take still:
- Basic Insurance
- Comprehensive Insurance

Grants not completed yet before the first prisoner entered the Prison:
- Performance Bonus 1
- Performance Bonus 2
- Employment Deployment (Workshop/Laundry thingy)
- Large Dividend
- Stock Market Diversify your Assets

and ofyourse the 3 Loan Grants wich I still have to pay back.
- Bank Loan 10k
- Privatise your Prison 30k
- Goverment Bailout 100k

So yeah still a couple of money to pay back but quite some money to make still from the investment grants and with the full workshop and space for 30-40 prisoners before opening I am compared to a normal game roughly 10-15 days ahead already in time.

Edit:
Day 13:

Cells: 51/60 + Holding Cell with 10 Beds so can house up to 40 prisoners
Staff: 8 Guards, 10 Worker, 1x Janitor, 1x Gardener, 1x Nurse and all Specialists,
Burecracy: completly done except Land Expansion
Cash: 250k left and a daily income of +1.6k +roughly 9k from Workshop
Laundry with 3 Washing Machines and stuff - space for 17 prisoners
2x Cleaning Cupboard for combined 20 Prisoners
Workshop with 10x Saw and 10x Press so ready for 20 prisoners
10 Metal Detectors and CCTV with 18 Cameras.

Grants to take still:
- Basic Insurance
- Comprehensive Insurance

Grants not completed yet before the first prisoner entered the Prison:
- Performance Bonus 2
- Employment Deployment (Workshop/Laundry thingy)
- Stock Market Diversify your Assets
- Goverment Bailout 100k

For the Stock market I have to upgrade my Guard Count to 24 and the last part was luck that I found it and have to say I was rather annoyed by that piece of item that I have around to get % in it.
It was Electrical Cable (and those that you build in dont count) Found out by pure dam luck when I canceled wrongly made cables before they were build. Had to get 50 Electrical Cables in my Storage to fullfill it so seriously... if you use Cables for the Grants why the hell do you not count build cables why do you only count cables that are "unused in storage"

2nd Edit:
Time of the Prison - Day 21 - 0:30 AM

Cells: 72/150 + Holding Cell with 10 Beds so can house up to 160 prisoners
Staff: 21 Guards, 12 Worker, 12 Cooks, 1x Janitor, 1x Gardener, 1x Nurse and all Specialists,
Burecracy: completly done except Land Expansion
Cash: 25k left and a daily income of +1.6k +roughly 18k from Workshop
Laundry with 5 Washing Machines and stuff - space for 17 prisoners
2x Cleaning Cupboard for combined 20 Prisoners
2 Workshop with 18x Saw and 18x Press worked by 35 Prisoners
25 Metal Detectors and CCTV with 27 Cameras. So every Cellblock has its on Metaldetector + Metaldetectors on each entrance to the prison/kitchen/workshop
Kitchen with 16 Cookers and 8 Fridges to easy feed up to 150 prisoners. (with 3 additional cooks even with high Quantity/Variation Meals)

Grants to take still:
- Basic Insurance
- Comprehensive Insurance

Grants not completed yet before the first prisoner entered the Prison:
- Performance Bonus 2
- Goverment Bailout 100k

So basicly after 20 days the Prison is finished.
All Foundations are done. Cells are done for 150 Prisoners. All Rooms of Needs are done.
Left over to do is some polishing in the Prison only (Floor Material maybe some windows) and ofcourse the Perimeter Wall all around the prison.

All in all my Prison is 10 days faster finished then I am able to do in the normal game with this mod.
So my final conclusion is this mod makes the game alot easier cause of the insane abundance of cash you have at the beginning.
The way to make it harder would be to remove the 100k Loan without any replacement.

On a sidenote about the changed prices. The increased prices for the workshop tools only increase a problem of the basic game design of this game without increasing any challenging factor. The issue is that the higher price just basicly limits the amount of stuff you can do in the 24h waiting period for hte next payout. Atleast aslong as you run the prison smooth enough that apart from building stuff your only other action is a few cellblock searches from time to time.

In all honesty it didn't occur to me that someone would take all the loans at once from the outset. The fact you can do so and still easily win clearly indicates a balancing issue which I'll fix for the next release.
Interest rates for larger loans have not been touched since workshops were introduced, so I'm not surprised these are off.

In the meantime, try limiting yourself to one of the first two loans and let me know if you still find it too easy.

- Does the mod work with the Steam version?

Yes
- If I install the mod can I still play the normal game without the mod?

Yes, but not without uninstalling the mod. To remove the mod delete/rename the 'data' folder in your installation folder.

- Why did you choose 100 Prisoners as the victory condition? On the normal small map without extensions in the normal game having 150 prisoners riot free running smoothly is no problem at all

Not on my machine. :P

- You write in your changes about "More balancing of prices & payouts" Do you mean the price of items there and if yes is there somewhere a list of changes to the prices you made? Atleast in the readme I could not find anything.

The prices for grants/payouts are shown on the grants tab of the reports page. The prices for items are detailed in materials.txt (in your data folder)

And what do you mean per download at those random stuff? Per new game it is not... restarting the game doesnt change the position of the Design Decisions or Land Lease. Newly unzipping the GFC files and copying it in the game folder doesnt change a thing either... is that a once per version difference you mean?

No, as I said, I mean per download. Download it again and you'll get different interest rates etc.

If you want I can give you a savefile to see apart of some cellblock searches during yard time all few days it doesnt require any input with 150 prisoners... apart from occational save/reload to get the game running smooth again. ;)

Found them there but still would love a complete changelog on your side (no priority but i usually prefer to see what a mod really all changes before i try it and maybe there are others thinking as strangely as me)
About the multiple loans... tbh taking the 2 small onces is making your prison harder to build cause you have to pay them back early with some nasty bonus. So the big one alone is doing fine.
Then you get alot of easy cash with all those other grants you made. The Land Load was for me basicly 10k free cash bonus without any effort.
The Design Outsource forced me to research cctv earlier then i usually did but since I had enough money was done fast. After that I just had to build the 3 rooms decorate and demolish quickly again before building my planed prison buildings that overlapped that areas and got again without much effort a nice cash bonus
The problem with both grants is that they are very nice from a theoretical point of view but are easy to abuse when you basicly build them before you build your real prison and nothing but a pain and money dump if you would take them after you finished your planned prison and you would have to demolish buildings for them just to rebuild after (and keeping the rooms int he random locations with their I guess random sizes is just killing a prison - atleast I cant imagine a prison working with a canteen roughly half the size of the visitation area both far away from the road.)
Maybe I just abused your Grant concept when I used a couple of minutes at the beginning to plan my way through before opening my prison for inmates. In a normal Game I have to start with 90k$ and a 30k? (not sure right now) bonus through grant complets
With the GFC mod I had roughly 200k I think all in all to build my prison before getting my first inmates.

Just out of curiosity on the technical stuff... how do you make different downloads differently? Some randomizer with the downloadtime?

Will this be updated for the Alpha 14 build that was just released? Great mod, makes you REALLY think (if you're not a pro designer) about layout and that's a good thing.

Would really like to give this mod a try but the website is unavailable - been trying it at random times over the last couple of days with no joy.

Is the mod available for download from another source at all?

Cheers

Rich.
