Power/Capacitor issues

Postby Duncandonut » Fri Jun 14, 2013 12:12 am

Have been wondering if there is a known bug in which you add a capacitor to your generator only for it not to count towards your total power ? Am looking to add a workshop to my prison, I cant however as I cannot seem to increase my power. I havent tried another generator yet as I cant afford it.

If you look at the image below, you can clearly see that I have 14 capacitors, but my power does not seem to increase at all.

No bugs, just some features:

1. Only capacitors placed next to the generator count, not capacitors next to capacitors next to the generator.

2. Capacitors can be turned off. When there is a power cut, the capacitors are all turned off as well as the generator. Click on a capacitor and select turn on to turn them back on.

Remember, that includes diagonals.

By surrounding the power station with capacitors you can have maximum 16.

That’s a nice idea, I didn't know that either. I thought even if the caps are placed closer to the generators would work even if they are not next to the generators. I am also glad that it worked out for you, Duncandonut.

Do you only have to turn one capacitor on to turn them all on?

If they are off, you have to turn each one on individually. And remember: turn the capacitors on first, then the power station.

Better yet, pause and turn them in any order you please.

Though I fail to see why I have to turn on the capacitors in the first place.

Because if you don't turn them on, they will remain off?

Duh, lol.
Why is the functionality there? Why not just add power to the generator and just let ppl turn that on or off.
It has no real gameplay benefits this way, so i hope they change it sooner or later. It's not a big issue, but once i kept buying capacitor because the generator kept switching off. Thought i still didn't have enough power.
Turned out i had to turn them on individually before turning on the generator.
