Prisoners refuse to work in Laundry

Postby Duncandonut » Thu Jun 13, 2013 6:51 pm

Hi all,

I have buiult a laundry with one washing machine, 3x trollies and 2x ironing board. I have made the room 11x11 (as suggested on these forums) and set the room as Laundry. However my prisoners refuse to work. I have set the schedule for them to work between 6am and 9am yet they do nothing. Have suffered a few riots now due to this issue and for the life of me I can't work it out.

Here is a screenshot of my prison Image

Have you assigned prisoner to the laundry? (deployment -> jobs)

Yes I set the jobs via the Deployment button. I just set 10 prisoners to work in there to see if that made a difference. They took a trolley wheeled it into hallway and left it without distributing the clean clothes. I suppose that can be seen as a good thing as they have at least moved a trolley :)

Think I will start again to see if that makes any difference.

They act a little strangely with the laundry baskets. What they'll do is that one person will wheel the cart to the cells while the other stand around doing nothing. Then once he's there, he'll go back to laundry and do nothing, while the others go from the laundry to the basket to start distributing the clean clothes. So everything may just be normal :P

Ok, managed to get my laundry working after rebuilding my prison. Seems to work well now for some reason. I have however noticed one slightly irritating issue and that is the person pushing the laundry trolley move about as fast as a prehistoric glacier moving uphill with a strong headwind.

It's a known issue. My personal believe is it's a bug caused by the prisoner overlapping with the basket and the basket slowing it down like when he moves over a bench or table and gets slowed down by it.

Way around laundry issue

Postby lkjafs » Fri Jun 14, 2013 9:04 am

If you want to get rid of the laundry issue for a long time:
Go to your save file (open it with word pad*), search for 'TimeToFailure 4320.00'
The need clothing is the only need with this time of failure. replace it with 'TimeToFailure 9000000.00' with the 'search & replace' tool (replace all). Now your prisoners won't grow this need any longer.

If you just want to remove the high need of clothing temporarily so you can keep testing the laundry:
Go to your save file, search for 'Charge 100.000' and replace it with 'Charge 000.000'
This will remove the need temporarily so no riots will be caused because of clothing.

*you can also open the file with another program but it saves alot of time if you can use the 'search & replace' tool.

Hmmmmmm prison has been working nicely up until now. I managed to somehow sort out the laundry issues and all was fine for 17days. However once again my prisoners arent doing laundry. The issue is that the laundry trolley is somehow inside of a prison cell. No one is going to collect it. Now my prisoners are starting to get a tad upset.

screenshot is broken but I've had this problem myself. I had to demolish walls just to retrieve the basket. It was stuck under a drain for me..lol..

Hi all,

I've stumbled on a version of this. Prisoners refuse to do work in the laundry and will only deliver clean uniforms to incomplete cells:

You can see the clean laundrey and holes in the cell walls. Any ideas how to fix this?

Been a while since I played, but if I remember rightly I deleted my laundry trolleys and bought new ones. Seems to work back then. Not sure about now though. May build a new prison tomorrow.

I see rubble...
Check your zoning. Things can go a bit wonky, I've noticed, when you change the size of a room/building. Sometimes they lose their security status or their laundry/canteen assignments.
