layered prisons

Postby AAXIUM » Mon Jan 28, 2013 4:05 am

basicaly that means you can swap between layers so you could have multi floored prisons like in real life instead of the flat ones

The idea would probably mean more micromanagement and harder to follow infrastructure like water, electricity and deployment. No matter though, Introversion has already been very clear and stated that there will be absolutely no multilayered prisons. At least not in the alpha, beta or final release of PA.

Distinct possibility that this is a no go until late beta and even then it's only if Chris or Mark is bribed with a significant amount of cash and then hit with a meteorite in the side of the head that they'll add multiple levels. In other woods, only if the game lacks depth or complexity relating to only being able to have one level.

This would be a cool idea though I think that if they plan on doing something like this they would have to do it sooner rather than later as im sure adding multiple floors may cause certain issues with things like pathfinding as well as other things.

Personally I like the game as it is but I would not complain if they added additional layers

They way the game is show (from above) i think its would be better to keep it on one floor, and maybe then be able to connect more prisons together, like transfering prisoners tho' jails by busses and such

Else its sounds like a great ide, but i wanna be able to adjust the camera angle , so i can see my skyscraper from side.

I don't see how a multi-floor prison would make any improvement to the gameplay whatsover. It seems the only advantage it has going for it is that it's multi-floor, and that's 'cool'.

I've got a multi-floor prison for you. Save your game. Save another game. Now switch between the two save games. There's your two floor multi-floor prison.. Am I missing something? It offers nothing new!

This suggestion's been raised a lot, and it's simply not worth the effort.

it improves prisoner copacity and its useful for storage so you could have storage basements which takes up less room. i know this idea isnt really a great one which must be implemented imediatly but it could come in handy when your running out of room. or we could just have more electric chars running ever one works

So then, why implement multipe floors when they could simply increase the map size?

I think running out of space, and making difficult decisions (Will I get rid of this yard to cram another 20 prisoners in to my overcrowded prison, 3 prisoners per cell?), is kinda the whole point of the game. What would it do to game balance and challenge if all you did when you ran out of space was keep going up levels?

Would it make for more realistic prisons? Yes, absolutely, last time I checked, prisons had stairs in them. Will it make for a more enjoyable game? That's the important question, and I think the answer is no.

One layer as said provides one of the main challenges, taller things such as a gaurd tower could still be viewed on the same level as the rest of the prison but you would know that it's higher than the building as it gives 20% more visibility when up there or something along those lines. While it could be interesting to have multiple floors in the end it's a layer of complexity that would take away one of the main challenges of running a prison which is space.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.
