Cell Block Design.

Postby Gutworm » Mon Nov 05, 2012 7:18 pm

EVENING GENTALMEN! Im Gutworn.
Today i would like to talk about a Cell Block Design i like to call, 'Cell Block A' For no reason what so ever... seemed a nice name at the time...
ANYWAY, the Design in question is shown here----> http://i50.tinypic.com/28qqknl.png
It's 34m wide and 40m in length.

The Block can hold 36 In-mates, with a 5m by 5m Cell. There is a Bed, Toilet, Shower, Drains,TV and Bookshelf.
Closer look: http://i50.tinypic.com/jqt4ys.png

There is 3 hallways going between the Cells which provides a good guard patrol. 9 guards in each Block is enough to deal with anything in the block.

As for the underground layout (Water, Power) it is a perfect design for such things. As seen here -----> http://i46.tinypic.com/2vsqfm8.png

My plan right now for my prison design im working on. Is to have 6 of these Cell Blocks which would connect using a long hallway.
Each Black has 9 Guards and 36 In-mates.

Lets work it out together!

6 Blocks, 36 in each one. Is 216!
Now then. for every 4 In-mates their is 1 Guard. So add that all up!..... its 54!

But.. we need other guards for: Yard, Canteen and all the other good stuff. Just add a extra 9 guards so that is enough to be 3 guards in each room of your choosing!

So thats 63 Guards and 216 in-mates, that is enough for the prison.

Tell me your opinions and ideas!
I wanted to post this up so that i can get ideas from everyone and thoughts on my design.

Thanks! :D

--Edit--

Soon i will post a picture of my 6 Cell Blocks which i talked about above^

Are you making a prison or a hotel? I make 2x3 prison cells with bed, toilet and TV (TV in every cell solves every problem)

Haha! I like to treat my in-mates to something nice where it don't end up with blood on my new floors. :)

I usually create 9x21 cellbocks that hold 10 2x3 cells. Seems like a nice round number, but I also like to slap on a 9x7 common room at the end as it is cheaper than a TV per cell.

I see your idea but, the TV's in the cells make it easier for the in-mates to do stuff with out being angry at everything.

If you put everything in a cell, they then have no reason to leave except for meals. That means no fighting.

im currently experimenting with what i shall term the prison block. its comprised of a few different building sizes. which are

45X17
17X45
17x17
45x25
25x45

Image

im not completely sure yet what im going to put in the rooms. but the 45x17 buildings can hold 44 inmates each. 4 rows of 11. and the 17x25 sized room can hold i believe 66 inmates with 6 rows of 11. the idea im testing here is to have 2 canteens in the center two 45X17 buildings with a shower room between them in the 17x17 room. that will be used on "free time"

previously i had 2x3 cells with a shower a toilet a bed a tv and a workout bench in them. LOL looked a bit spastic with all the clipping that happens with drains but it kept my inmates extremely happy only having to leave to eat. on this run im removing the shower head so i don't have the spastic drains. just have to try and figure out how to build the doors so that they can close since doors seem to not close in a few cases with other objects.

This is a pretty neat design and i like the idea. Atm im using building 6 Cell Blocks of my design and a big canteen in the middle which can hold 216 in-mates.
I am thinking of how many of your design can fit on a large map but not take up so much room that will be hard to make anything else. My design was made to be big enough to hold alot but small and simple to build many and take up no room.

Let me know how your idea turns out and i will post a update on mine soon. :)

you got me thinking about expandability with my design.. and when it comes to open space i have a lot of it but also it is not of a good size or shape to make good flowing buildings for inmates to move between. so i went back to the drawing board. new design has buildings with sizes

14x14
14x29
29x14
9x29
29x9

with this new block design. should i am expecting to get 252 inmates per block and i should be able to fit 3 blocks easy into a large map. with some extra room for things like canteens yards. showers and kitchens. offices and utilities are going to have to be on the other side of the road.

Well i have been thinking of adding 6 more cells into my Block design since my layout for my cell blocks fit perfect but leave too much space above them

Which would make it:
45x34

Which don't make alot of difference but still adds 6 more in-mates in a block for that extra space to be filled. So i would have 42 in-mates and a total of 222. Nice round number :D

Nice! that looks to work pretty well. I can see where you can fit the canteen and shower room pretty good too, even though the kitchen and canteen will be a pretty tight fit since you would need alot of room for that many in-mates.
