Requires Entrance/ Room never finishes

Postby playful » Thu Nov 01, 2012 11:45 pm

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but when I try to make a holding cell, it starts to build the room, and then it stops, and all the while, it's saying that it requires an entrance...

Is this a bug, or am I just not doing it right?

XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX XXXXX
XXXXXXX O O
XXXXXXX O O
XXXXX

the bottom X's are supposed to be in line with the other one for the hall to the cell... and the O's are the doors, and are supposed to be on the ends of the halls...
Something like that...

Well guessing from your problem, i think your putting the door outside of the foundation. You have to place it on the sides or even in the middle for the building to be complete

The problem is that your counting the other buildings door as the new buildings door. It doesn't work like that yet. Put a door anywhere, it'll build it, then remove that door. That'll extend the building how you wsnt

Also, that doesn't explain why the building doesn't finish... well... building.

Yes it does. Put the door in place and the building will complete... building.

it's just a bug for now. at least i'd consider it a bug. It can't build until theres a door as part of the new construction. for extensions, build the new area, remove the door and go over the now internal wall with flooring

Thanks for this. Very new to PA and I was really struggling with understanding how to extend buildings without making a massive foundation and subdividing it with walls. How is this fundamental usability issue in alpha??

Requires entrance bug

I've been trying to build another cell block but even though i have put 3 doors on the foundation it still says that it "requires an entrance" :/ Help?

Use a small jail door, that fixes the problem for me. Once the foundation completes then just dismantle the small jail door and replace it with a large one.

Try dumping it to be safe and placing a brand new one in its place.
