If it wasn't IV, how many of you would play this game?

Be honest. If it wasn't for the Introversion/ Defcon/ Darwinia / Uplink connection, how many of you reading this on the forums would really have given PA a second glance?

Honestly none a second. The theme is not fascinating me, plus they are already craps prison tycoon. But, in the hand of Chris Delay honestly it can only be good whatever gameplay it has. I mean, pretty sure they are able to made an awsome puzzle game ( dislike the genre ). For me, introversion is like Rave every game, in every genre has a personnality and are great game even if they not follow some standarts.

I would.

It's an interesting concept in an underserved genre with a good visual style. Frankly the only difference is that I might be a little more cautious if the devs had less of a track record.

lol

I wouldn't, this could very easily turn out into a VERY BORING game. But I do have faith in IV, even-though they stitched-up Multiwinia :/

I haven't played any of those games. I just came here to find out more about PA.
It's right up my alley, I love those type of games. I'm looking forward to playing it.

I found out about PA in a YT movie called Top 5 - Hottest Indie games of 2012. :)

Greets!
Doc.

They have made reference to the Bullfrog management style games of yore.

That's all I need to be looking forward to this game.

I'm a big fan of building/management games. However, the prison model is a touchy subject (to me) and if it weren't Introversion I would probably avoid it. Not because it doesn't look like an interesting game, but because I find the subject matter can be rather uncomfortable when it isn't afforded an appropriate level of respect and awareness. IV has talked about that to some extent and I trust their perspective on the moral issues etc.

Still, I'm waiting to see the full feature set before I commit.

As long as they have a Linux version, I will buy it as they are one of the few commercial companies who release proper Linux versions. Also Defcon is one of the great games, so they have a good track record.

I think this us an odd thing to ask on a forum where many of the regular posters have been around for many years and clearly have formed a strong connection with Introversion.

It's therefore a difficult question to answer. For me, the tiniest thing will grab my attention...Everyday Shooter for example had amazing sound. Machinarium hooked me with its visual style. SPAZ reminds me of 16bit days, Darwinia was the same.

Does PA have a hook? Yes, it looks like there will be some intetesting AI, something I think has lagged behind the development of better vusuals for way too long...even now, new titles are released with terrible enemy AI.

So yes, PA would be on my watch list.

I would have given it a look, I rather enjoy games within the 'tycoon' genre. For example, OpenTTD has taken my interest of recent, I am sure many of you have heard of it. As to the fact that Introversion is making it, this simply boosts my interest further as I am a big fan of Uplink/Defcon/Darwinia and can't wait to see more on PA in the upcoming future.

I agree with this too, even triple A titles from big companies have titles with very poor AI in them, especially war games, it frustrates me to no end to be honest. The amount of times I have screamed at my AI team to do something when they have just stood there is countless, RTS games where the AI isn't challenging enough is also rather annoying and RPG where by the AI is just dumb...

I'm probably not going to play it, but because of it being IV, and being an important stepping stone regarding their current problems, am watching it.

Why?

1. I'm not so much into tycoon-style games.

2. The "theme" doesn't interest me. However, in my case this isn't so much because of the frequently mentioned "moral issue" (which quite frankly to me feels more like an "i don't want to face things like this"-issue). Rather, it for more is like a "political" thing.... current style of prisons, and all the legal and cultural framework around them... aren't really something with which i can identify. It's not something i'd want to "roleplay". If someone were to bring out a game, about the player playing a president in current political systems, i equally would be desinterested. So, to me its not specifically prisons, but that i cannot identify with the political and legal system as a whole.
