Cool...I will try to give it a go.

I am using Blender for Nif file exports and MicroDEM for Satalite land maps.

I will return and finish my project during the holidays...have to finish a couple train game mods. All scripts are xml based with NIF and KFM files.
I still have to convert a few buildings for my last couple Particles levels...so this will come in handy.

Now if I could just clone myself I could finish the Traiz, MTS, Ship Sim, Darwinia, HLDM-2 maps, Caesar and Titan mods all at once!

I have been playing around with it for a while, and I noticed that the vectors are not being converted to Blender's orientation. I also figured out that some of the shape files use triangle strips instead of lists, and I am working on a way to fix that now.

Lowell: I wish I could clone myself too. :)

I have fixed those problems for the most part, and posted the new version in the other post (see the end of page 7 of this thread). But I still have a few problems with the triangles to work out. For an example of this, import incubator.shp. I also cannot figure out how to set colors for the vertices. Using the reverse of the exporter code produces the error that there is no color data for the vertices. I cannot figure out how to add color data.
