I have started on making my first mod again. But i have totally remade the idea of the concept. But i would like to know one thing. I have seen in several of the mods for Darwinia ( TheParticlesWithin for an example ) custom made shapes and other objects, do they have to end with the filename .shp ? I have Gmax and am currently downloading 3ds MAX 9, both are 3d-modelling programs but i don´t know if i can add the things i create in them into Darwinia. Atleast i would like them to be static shapes! I would like to know if i could just use them as static shapes, and if that is not possible because that they are not .shp files maybe atleast there is a utility-program so that i could convert the .gmax files made from Gmax or .max files made from 3ds MAX 9 into .shp?

I wrote a java applet that will convert from max ase files to darwinia .shp files. However, it used the JOGL applet launcher and it seems this has been changed and my applet doesnt seem to work anymore ( it was here http://www.nihilesthetics.info/Darwinia ... verter.htm ). I just dont have the time or the will to fix it. I dont think I even have the source anymore - a shame since it took me months, I had to learn both java and JOGL from scratch to do this project.
If you have perl you can use >ZEphYR<s much improved version of the original perl script http://72.41.130.253/Darwinia/asetoshp.pl
You wont get it right the first time, but after you have done a few, its easy. If you need help, I can probably remember a few things about it.
There is also a sticky shape converter service from yonks ago ( sure you have noticed that already ) - good luck in getting a response.
