Ok, I'll download it when I get home; I'm gonna post all four of my scores up here - you can average them if you wish :)

Great, so this is already falling apart in that people can't agree on a scoring scheme. If you are going to use scores, I'd use Martin's overall score rather than an average, since yknow, that makes the most sense

Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why we are doing the unedited version of colour on this occasion?

Also out of curiosity, do you see why I'm far more in favour of doing a linear badging scheme to give the player half the information? (and I would say the most important half to KNOW IN ADVANCE) - it's mainly because it took 10 minutes to work it out for all the mods that exist, where as you're going to be doing this for weeks, and more than likely, the outcome will be *exactly the same*

All I was saying was I'd post all my scores which came to the average. I personally think that we should follow my scheme properly, it tells everyone more info. I mean if I meant a mod about the creation of darwinia, with no virii or anything it could look beautiful and have a touching storyline bu have an overall sscore of 2% because it's boring - nothing to kill!

also, does it matter if we take weeks? we're forced to have fun for weeks on end; oh noes!

Doesn't have to be a week per game but not everyone can play the mod "TODAY !!!" and post back a score. Lets play this and give it a go... If you can load it up and come to a conclusion on its ranking within 5 minutes, then great. It really doesn't matter.

TGF, an averaged score based on martins rating method averaged with your score will give a score. I am prepared to add 1 column to the modlist with a percentage rating. 1-100. If i insist that at least 5 people need to rate a game to give it a half reasonable average score and all mods are rated fairly by each person scoring them (in whatever way they see fit) then a hierarchy of final mod scores will be achieved.

It really doesn't have to be so complicated. 5 people give me a score out of100. I average it. I list it. How you come up with your score is entirely up to you.

As for why this mod... i plucked it out of thin air as i remember enjoying it and its short. We could do the tgf version next, or jump straight to one of the bigger ones... i don't care so long as they all get done in the end.

well, i'm loading it up now.

ok tgf, if you've got ratings for all the mods then you're done. send em over. i'll rate each one as we go along. i hope martin will rate each one too and a couple of other people at least will join in...

we could do them alphabetically ?? we could do a bunch of the older ones first ?? we could do the smallest mods first ?? if more than 5 people rate a game and i've already uploaded a final score, i will recalc and reupload. so the more ratings the better the overall average will reflect.

yeah, I'm mostly done with colour - just doing the level with the darwinians before I had to come off :(

anyway, I suggest doing them in the order the modlist lists them.

EDIT:: just checked, hehe - that means we do mine, some elses then the entire of TheBigMod :D:D:D

The original Colour gets 62/100 from me

The edited version gets 78/100, if you care.

I can give you more ratings later...

Also, the original gets a Silver Banana, and the edited version gets a golden one, if you ever decide to think those are good idea.

i've been distracted sorry. scores noted.
my personal score was 68. Nothing earth shattering here but a fun little mod all the same with at least some plot and scripting. Plus it worked, thats always a plus !!

Need 2 more ratings from people.

And i think random is best from the list to stop monotony setting in, in some parts...

Use both damnnit! Its not that hard to put an extra icon in! (or not).

A stamp of approval for non-exploding, and a percenta... wait! I've got it!

Instead of giving so called "Playable" mods a stamp of approval, give a stamp of disapproval to mods with serious problems!

You could put like, a little explosion or a vomiting smiley by mods with tendencies to explode! Or maybe this one!

Like a golden or silver banana? This is exactly what TGF proposed. For what it is worth, I think it is the correct way to handle things. I don't see a need to subjectively rate each mod. That isn't that helpful. Instead, what people really want to know is: is the mod playable? will it blow up in my face? does it work? That is what the golden and silver bananas do.

I believe what shadow_archmagi was saying was that, instead of marking competent mods as playable (as per the gold/silver banana system), incompetent mods should be highlighted - i.e. anything which isn't singled out is good. I don't entirely see any reason to make this distinction though, and TGF has already provided images to use for his aforementioned approach.

Hall of Fame, Hall of Shame and Hall of idiosyncratic mediocrity?
