ok, so I suspect I'm going to look stupid here;
how do you control yellow Darwinians? I know you can use the controller but they don't follow officer orders do they? I'm fairly sure they never used to - but they do now on my computer!

They always did. They also shoot for you. It's just impossible to re-select an officer if he does a call-all command with Yellows in it.

They also can't be made officers.
One interesting thing I accidently discovered is that yellow DGs that are in_unit turn invisible, but you can select them and fire their weapons. They still man spawnpoints and follow officers. You cannot move them, but a bunch of lasers and grenades coming from nowhere would certainly panic a real opponent.
Shwart!!

Mmm... DG flambe... <checks the engineer thing>
Shwart!!
EDIT: wow.... that is awesome...
You should see my test map. It has a huge powerstation shape with trees growing out of it, red DGs, green DGs, an incubator spawning hundreds of blue DGs, and now 40 inunit engineers!
EDIT 2: Heey... team3 incubators attract team1 engineers as a soul dropoff point, which continue to make team3 DGs.
