Shape file mod
I'm making a mod that involves the rocket from the demo. I need a crashed version, is there any way to edit it (in text?) just to make it so that it lays to one side about 20-35 degrees from horizontal?
Using just a text editor? Good luck. It can be done, but it would be very tedious. In the triangles section of the shap file, you would need to remove all of the triangles that you want removed from the shape. It is not fun to do by hand.
At one point, I believe that IV released the shape files in Studio 3D Max 5 format, but I am not sure if the rocket was a part of that, and I can't find the files at the moment. If you can create new files in S3DM5, there is a converter running around somewhere, but, again, I can't seem to find the link. Sorry.

not to rain on anyone's parade, but uh, just tweak these lines in the shp;
The range is -1 to 1, I think; regardless, play with them and you can easily spin the rocket around. If it's 'floating in the air' too much, change the pos line nearby so it clips through the ground more.
You might also like to take out random triangle lines to make it look more like a wreckage, if that's the angle you're taking.
Code: Select all
up: 0.00 1.00 0.00
front: 0.00 0.00 1.00The range is -1 to 1, I think; regardless, play with them and you can easily spin the rocket around. If it's 'floating in the air' too much, change the pos line nearby so it clips through the ground more.
