Changing team colours?

Hi, this is my first here, so I hope I don't end up coming off as a flaming n00b. The username messup doesn't help I must admit...

I'm wondering if there is any way to change the colours of the teams in Darwinia?

I'm doing a small mod for a webcomic I run called Bunny, and it involves a little pink bunny (...don't look at me like that). I'm going through changing most of the models to custom versions... but I have a small problem with the actual darwinians...

I've changed the sprite, and it seems to work fine... except the sprite is in the team colour rather than the colour in the image file (as I expected and is covered in Nihils modding page)

It's not a terrible problem, but at the moment they just look a little silly...

I'm guessing it's something that's hard-coded into the game itself and unmoddable, but I figured I'd ask incase it was possible and if anyone had an idea how to do it?

Thanks
-Lem

As far as anyone can tell, the colors are hardcoded. Team 0 is green, team 1 is red, team 2 is yellow, team 3 is blue. Team 1 will attack teams 0 and 2 (possibly 3, as well). Team 0 will attack team 1. Team 2 is player controlled.

I was wondering if it was possible to tweak the RGB value of each of the team colours (i.e. change the green team from I assume 0 255 0 to ... say... 100 100 100 for a mid-grey colour)

Hmm... it does seem to be hardcoded, therefore it is as I feared.

Ah well, Green bunnies don't look ... that bad...?

The colours are hard coded, but you could edit the exe in a hex editor if you really want to go there. There are obvious problems with that, like distributing your mod. But let me know if you want to know how.

The same goes for smooth shading, by the way. Easy to do, but much harder to distribute with your mod.

Ive been patiently waiting for the DevCD to include some of these features, but Im worried, what with the release on Steam, whether the DevCD will ever surface. I think it was TrickFred that first brought up the spectre of " the consequences of the indie programmers under the leash of the big corporate game publisher". Steam has been great for IVs sales, we're told, which is the important thing ... I suppose.

I think for what I want to achieve with this mod (just a fun little model-swapping exercise), the green is perfectly acceptable.

But for tinkering myself, I'm more than happy to learn... though I have no knowledge at all of hex editing and there is a good chance that I'm unteachable without a large stick.

I can say the Bunnies are all sick or something right? right?
