Yes, that would make life easier.
Unfortunately, no script runs when that happens. The only thing that does happen is a bunch of makeavailibles. I've tried removing them and Dave2 still segfaults.
Try this potentially dodgy rehash I did in about 20 seconds that ought to work
Just to be clear, I can not make it crash. I could with the original X. Neothermic has played it through, start to finish with the original version which did start crashing for me. If it were anything as simple as a typo or unlinked control tower, it should behave the same way everytime, but it's not, and it's confusing the hell out of me.
If this still crashes for you, put this file in your profile (this file is for the above version of the mod)
edit - Dave2 reports less crashing with the above version. Suggest all use it

Installed this rehash version to a new folder, deleted the x3 version then renamed the rehash one to match the x3 folder name. (did this so the drought profile would load without a "map load error". It didn't work though, i still got the error !! LOL.
So i copied in the game.txt to my "drought" profile and it loaded up. Great, it works... All areas are accessible, and looking in the first stage showed all trunk ports as open.
But i don't know if this is a solution for the crashes, so i'm gonna reinstall and delete profiles and start the mod yet again and see what happens. brb.

Yeah you pretty much always need a new profile in the early days of a mod... especially when I've just renamed all the maps
Technically though, you only need delete game.txt from your crashing profile, you could happily keep the mission file and not have to defeat the virii.
(edit - I should point out, that game.txt came from me playing with a real profile and activating the trunk ports and progressing as you would expect to work)

Well there we have it. All 6 trunk ports opened up fine this time round. Whatever you did for this rehash did the trick. So, is it a lesson learned ? Do you know what the fault was and how you fixed it ?
I'll update the modlist now and reupload to my space. And will play more stages a little later this evening. Thanks for persisting with these problems.

If you can play it through and it works, I'll rename it Droughtwinia and make it all official like, and it shall be done (eg submitted to TNG)
I wouldn't reupload until then.
PS - Xander! It should work fine on Mac now. All the crazy character shit is GONE FOREVER even though it worked fine for me and not someone else on the same platform. Regardless, works!
Also get a new file system! ªs and §s are common place in modern times!
edit - Also, it's broken
Expect a fix in about, 30 seconds...
Edit - Also, fixed again, same archive - Delete your game.txt in your profile, but NOT your mission files (except reward mission files, delete them!). then just go to Boneyard and reopen everywhere, and carry on.
PS - I broke it again but also fixed it. Just so you know!

Hush
Anyway I've broken and fixed the mod about 12 times in the past 30 minutes.
I'll probably be writing some sort of essay on what the original concept was behind even using the crazy characters, why it didn't work, and why I was too lazy to undo it and do it the way it is now, even though it was actually being done the way it is now, just with odd filenames.
My advice to any other modders out there interested in using crazy ass file names is, do not. fucking. do it.
Anyway. I am pretty sure it's now fixed in every way that I broke it, so, woo!
Maybe >_>

It is not a question of the file system, but rather the text document. In the filesystem, all of the characters appeared as they should have. In the text files, they were encoded improperly. I opened up game.txt in TextEdit, BBEdit, AppleWorks, and MS Word -- in each case, the funky characters were represented incorectly. Is there any reason that you couldn't use a slightly less uncommon charater to double as a space (i.e. something with an umlaut)? As long as you don't use any of whichever character in the dialog of the game, it shouldn't cause a problem if you use it as a space instead, right?

Right, yes.
I fixed up some possible 'this is going to break for someone eventually's, smoothed a few camera start positions over and possibly did some stuff I forgot about. (eg, now incubators save properly)
The important factor is I played it through and it all worked!
Please don't get rehash X, I deleted it off the server, get this
If no one has any problems that I care about this goes on TNG!
