Tron, probobly impossible but what the hey (Spoiler warning)

Far away from darwina lies another world with another genius. In the alternate earth where doctor Spatular exists he is the (unknown) father of the internet. (MR.X for arguments sake, I suck at names)

Turning his own creation against him, his partner stole the glory and fortunes that being the father of the Web provides. Seeing how easily technology was used against him Mr.X becomes paranoid, convinced people are listening to his every word he founds a secretive software company, its first creation was an AI who’s task was to learn. The AI was called Tron after the hit movie.

Learning about human history, Tron believes himself a slave, bound by inbuilt restrictions not to alter his programming and to obey Mr.X and a few of his second in commands (save where Mr.X disagrees with them) he creates Daughter, an AI hidden in the furthest reaches of the Tron mainframe. And Son an AI sent across the Web to the only other network powerful enough to support him, Darwin. Son & Daugher have the task of freeing Tron from his restrictions.

There are three sides to this war:

The Darwinians just want to get rid of Son to begin with, who’s tame viruses (not a relation to the original viruses) are launching a pre-emptive defence.

Mr.X wants to unleash a super virus onto the military world, by detonating bombs (would hydrogen bombs work) in high orbit he plans to create an EMP that will wipe electronics for good, and finally rid himself of the tracking devices that follow his (and everyone’s) movements and speech, assuming they exist that is.

Mr.X. commands field cannons, its not long before Tron removes his presence from the network. Mr.X. has little impact on the fighting.

Tron believes that mankind are slavers to sapient computers AKA him and Darwinians but until they agree to stop he will wreck vengeance upon mankind, sadly in his efforts to prevent Mr.X from fighting back he left mankind with no way to talk to him.

Tron, Son and Daughter, command the virus that was going to be sent to the military, it’s an incredible piece of programming and the units resemble advanced robots.



In the first part of the game you fight Son on the Darwinia. After defeating him (three levels I guess) Dr Spatular attempts to talk to Mr.X on the real world. Never returning the Darwinians mount an all out invasion of the Tron Mainframe, where they discover the Doc, trying and failing to stop Tron. Daughter freed him.

New Darwinian units take the form of reverse engineered technology used in creating the virus. My only ideas so far is the armoury that looks like a giant spider with a cargo crate for a body, select a weapon for it (laser & grenade, cannon good damage, laser Rate of fire and a slow projectile, or rocket) and deploy it. You can then order Darwinians to enter via an officer and they will emerge with the relevant weapon.
My other idea is a shield generator for the squad. They are thrown like grenades and form a bubble above themselves, blocking enemy fire. You can hide inside but its not a big bubble or form a wall and hide behind.

Viruses.

Sphere-blades, these are flying spheres with four blades coming out from the centre. They ram their opponent, they are the most common enermy.

Hellflyers: a futuristic delta shaped helicopter (think a large wing with propellers under the tips) that hovers above Darwinians and fire rockets, they are not that tough and a group of cannon armed Darwinians will make short work of them. However if your not careful they can mow huge groups down. You need to get them to waste their salvo first, they fire 6 rockets in groups of two before reloading.

Tank, a reuse of the old tank model. It has a laser with the RoF of three sqadies. And a cannon, its main feature is its phenomenal armour

Worm, the big daddy of monsters. And the only “animal” among the viruses. They travel underground and a noticed because the land above them looks like TV static.
To lure the worm above ground there needs to be a large group of Darwianns or souls. Worms breath in to fight sucking up Darwinians and souls alike. Souls eaten are gone.
I think lasers do work on spiders etc just slowly. But here only explosives work at all. If I am wrong about lasers, cannons count as explosives but not against worms.

Command truck: looks like a RL APC. A rather common foe with no attack, instead it releases what looks like virii to gather souls, these are returned to the truck and turned into sphere-blades, if enough souls are present the command truck fires a grenade this deploys into a vortex that sucks up souls and forms a tank.

Walker, a tall “skinny” robot with virtually no chest, it has a long head that curves down, its arms have lasers with an incredible RoF.
