Alt-tabbing out or similar

Postby AndyP » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:57 pm

Is it in any way possible to to make Alt-Tabbing out possible?

As it stands, when I press Alt-Tab, nothing happens.
When I press Alt-Esc, it's like I just pressed Esc. I've read on the general Darwinia forums that it would be supposed to minimize Darwinia.
Another tip I read on the general Darwinia forums was to press the Windows key, which did nothing whatsoever.
All this is true in both fullscreen and windowed mode.

I would appreciate tips to get that to work for two reasons:
a) it would pause the game
b) it would be possible to interact with other windows

The latter I know can be achieved by running Darwinia in a separate Xserver, but then it won't notice that it lost focus.

For now I've circumvented it by
1. starting Darwinia in its own Xserver 2. switching back 3. get Darwinia's PID 4. prepare "kill -STOP <Darwinia's PID>" 5. switch to Darwinia 6. play
then when I want to tab out and pause
1. switch to main Xserver 2. hit ENTER(1) in the prepared console 3. do whatever I wanted to 4. enter "kill -CONT <Darwinia's PID>" 5. switch to Darwinia fast

1) possibly UP twice first if I had paused before

Have you tried playing in windowed mode? You can make the window have the same resolution as your screen and then make it borderless.
