Darwinia language / message error

Postby Kakarott » Fri Aug 06, 2010 3:12 pm

Greetings,

I noticed recently that this game runs on Linux.
I grabbed my steam version, installed the linux 1.4.0b9 beta installer and used my savegame.
And it worked.

Except that now I get "Error (taskmanager_full)" and other messages like this instead of the right message that I should get.

I'm short before the Biosphere level. Now that it runs nice on linux I don't want to boot back into windows just to play this game ...
Is there any help??

Regards,
Kakarott

AFAIK, the linux install was designed to work with the version sold by IV directly, and any problems you find getting it to work with Steam are yours to keep. Then again, AFAIK, it doesn't work at all with the Steam version, so maybe I'm not the man you want to talk to :)

It sounds like you're just missing strings_default.txt. All the data files are .rar files in disguise; open up language.dat as language.rar and find it, and put it into darwinia/main . If this procedure doesn't work, mess with it until it does.
