Running Ubuntu 9.10, Steam through Wine, DirectSound Error

Postby astroblack » Mon Feb 01, 2010 2:10 am

I'm currently running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Inspiron 2200. I have Wine 1.2 installed running Steam. I currently only have Darwinia installed. Also I'm using a pair of laptop speakers. Anyways, every time I try to launch the game it gives me this: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/5742/darwiniaubuntuerror.png.

Can someone please explain what I need to do? I tried changing sound drivers, never multiple ones because it recommended not to. I'm quite new to Ubuntu, let alone Linux. Let me know if more info is needed.

I don't use wine so not much on that . But for what i've read in this forums maybe you can install the linux executable of darwinia and import the data files from steam (make a search in the forums) , a little bit on the line legallly i think but i think you will have a much better experience with the little green men ;-) .
