gentoo install with newest windows cd

Postby dunedain289 » Wed Jul 26, 2006 1:44 am

I've been trying to install the game on my Linux partition, and have run into some problems. First, it seems to have issues detecting my cd. The gentoo ebuild seems to get around that problem (with the CD_ROOT environment variable), but then it gets stuck when it can't find a directory on the cd:

install: cannot stat `/mnt/cdrom/gamefiles/main.dat': No such file or directory
install: cannot stat `/mnt/cdrom/gamefiles/sounds.dat': No such file or directory

!!! ERROR: games-strategy/darwinia-1.3.0 failed.
Call stack:
ebuild.sh, line 1539: Called dyn_install
ebuild.sh, line 1013: Called src_install
darwinia-1.3.0.ebuild, line 48: Called die

!!! couldn't copy data files
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, and the call stack if relevant.

This may not be the right place to post this, but I thought I'd give it a try. Maybe someone has some recommendations to get the introversion installer to work. Also, I noticed that when I installed with this cd in Windows, it installed the newest Windows version (1.4 ish, I think). Does that matter?

Did you buy the Cineware Marquee distribution of the game? Is so, have a look at this topic and see if that helps.

And, yes, this is the right place to post that.

That worked really well, thanks! I had already installed it on my WinXP partition too, so I just found the datafiles and created a directory with the structure the installers expected. Worked like a charm!
