Looks rubbish on Linux

Postby Brass Monkey » Fri Jan 20, 2006 11:45 am

I recently tried messing about with Kubuntu so I thought I'd give Darwinia a go on it. Framerates are great but it just looks crap compared to the CD version. I'm using a GeForce FX 5900 with fully updated drivers which afaik should give me full hardware 3d support under Linux. Is there something wrong, or is this just one of these things we have to accept?

Perhaps you don't have anti-aliasing configured? Run nvidia-settings from a console, and play around with the anti-aliasing settings.

The Windows and Linux versions should look exactly the same, since they use the same data.

It's on application-controlled, which is what I've got it set on on Windows. Anyways I know what the difference between AA and non-AA looks like and it's a lot worse, I'll get some screen grabs or something for a comparism later.

The only potential option I can think of without more details is that you have the pixel effect on in Linux, and off on Windows (which is an option).
