Aiming problem

Postby Maxilys » Sun Jun 12, 2005 7:07 am

Hi there,

I couln't aim anymore with the radar dishes or the big cannons. The cursor jumped everywhere on the screen and didn't respond to the mouse. The view changed accordingly and it got me almost space-sick. The sounds changed too, as if I were teleported at random in the location.

The problem arose in Temple. I completed all previous locations without a problem.

And in between two lines of this message, I finished Darwinia! Yeah! I even had the time to clean some mess I left behind. Darwinia is green without a spot of red...

Everything went back to normal after I quitted and restarted.

(I use the full 1.2.1 version in full screen on SuSE 9.2 with Xorg 0.8.2 and KDE 3.4.1 if it matters.)

Hmm... You are using a patched version of the game, eh? What kind of system specs do you have? I know that this problem occured in the pre-patched version of the game, and was particularly bad on lower end machines. On these machines, when framerates dropped significantly (maybe less than 10 FPS), cannons and radar dishes became hard to aim. You can work around this by using the debug camera. Hit [F2] until the camera stops following the cursor. Search the forums for 'debug camera' and you should be able to figure out how to use it.
