All the other keys in the game can be remapped, but the alt key for the Task manager is hardwired in.

This should be of no consequence, except for two facts:

a) I'm on my iBook, and the alt key is to the north-west of the trackpad;

b) I'm left-handed, and prefer to use that hand for gestures.

Is there any way to rewire it so that a right-side of the keyboard key would work instead?

In game, there is no way to remap the alt key. If you want to switch it around, you can, however, do it via the System Preferences. Open up System Preferences, and click on Keyboard & Mouse. In the Keyboard tab, click on Modifier Keys... (it is in the bottom left). You can then remap the modifiers. Switching ALT and Command may help, but you will have to switch it back. It might be possible to write an Apple Script that would do this when you launch Darwinia, but that is beyond my level of expertise.

As to why it can't be remapped, I don't know. Maybe Chris or John could enlighten us...
