Darwinia+Multiwina crash on startup (audio output error)

Postby Illumia » Sun Jan 01, 2012 5:22 pm

Hello my name is Illumia! Ive recently brought Darwinia and Multiwina on steam with a pc that has the following specs:

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_gdr.110622-1503)
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9650 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs
Memory: 4096MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 4094MB RAM
Page File: 2749MB used, 5436MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
Ive had a horrible time trying to fix the problem ive been having with both games and require assistance with solving the problem.
Ive been unable to use Multiwinias inbuilt error report due to it not liking my error log for somereason so ive been un-able to contact the creators directly.
What basically happen's is Darwinia crashes on startup and Multiwina crashes after showing the Introvision logo, both come up with fatal error telling about failing to find
audio input. Its only possible to leave the blackscreen resulting from the error by using task manager and closing down the fatal error.
Here is my black box for multiwinia:

=========================
= BLACK BOX REPORT =
=========================

Multiwinia steam.1.3.0 built Mar 3 2009
Date 16:7, 1/1/2012

ERROR : 'Failed to open audio output device: "Specified device ID is out of range"'

=========================
= STACKTRACE =
=========================

retAddress = 0041CD7BI

Im affraid i cannot find the black box for darwinia but its fatal error is almost identical to Multiwinas one.
I have looked through the forums for hours trying to find a fix, one looked like a fix (using redit to add a missing thread which i already have)
but none have worked yet.

Ive tried running both as admin, updated all my drivers, added missing objects to my prefences eben re-downloading them but nothing has worked!

Please help ASAP as im looking forward to playing Darwinia and Multiwinia

-Thanks for your time :D

Try to play with headphones. If it works, it'll help find the real problem.
