A sound error which you may not have seen before...

Postby Lord Roland » Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:57 pm

Hey, i was fiddling around with my sound options, and the game crashed. I can't remember what i changed exactly but now the game will get a fatal error as soon as i boot it up, i dont even see the intro vids, and i dont have the chance to change any settings ingame. I'm running it off steam at the moment.
Here is the blackbox report:

There is a file in your Darwinia directory (or should be, anyway) called preferences.txt. You can change your settings by changing that file. In the past, this error has been linked to problems with Hardware 3D Sound and Realtime FX. I would make sure that these two options are set to 0 in preferences.txt, like so:

Code: Select all

SoundHW3D = 0
SoundDSP = 0

However, I have not heard of this occurring on start. Generally, it happens once you are playing in a level with red DGs. Thus, I am not overly optimistic about this solution.
