Possible fix for "Failed to open audio output device...

Postby Covak » Sun Apr 08, 2007 7:05 am

For the 'Failed to open audio output device: "Specified device ID is out of range"' problem...

Run regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

Add a string named "wavemapper" and set it to "msacm32.drv"

When someone else with this problem mentioned they also had no sound for Flash stuff (as I did) I went searching for a solution to that and found this fix. Now I've got Flash sound again and, more importantly, I can actually play Darwinia again :)
