Game Crashes

Postby Kirby » Thu Aug 24, 2006 2:57 am

Bought it today, (yes, I downloaded the patch), game runs just fine, but when I try to play a level (just the first one, don't have any others unlocked), I get an error report from Microsoft. I can access the options on the menu, but can't do the first level.

I would include blackbox.txt, but it doesn't exist, there's no problem with Darwinia, as far as I can tell.

Did you read the Read me first before submitting a bug report! thread? specifically, the part about RenderLandscapeMode? I would try that, first.

Yes, I read it, but I couldn't figure out how I was suppost to change it. I did change the other things though. I'm making these changes in 'preferences.txt', and there's no 'RenderLandscapeMode' flag in there. Am I suppost to change it some other way?

xander should have know better; here's a link with a much better description:

http://forums.introversion.co.uk/darwin ... php?t=2935

Look for the section enetitled, "Oh good god Darwinia just crashes!"

If that doesn't work, repost and let us know.

Nope, tried that, but this topic helped me out.

Patch 1.3 works fine for me, I get no errors and it runs smoothly. Weird, huh?

No, there is no RenderLandscapeMode flag in there. You have to add it yourself. Add it to the end of the file, and make sure that you have a blank line at the bottom.

Yeah, weird. Down side is, you won't be able to play any mods that depend on features introduced in 1.42, including all of mine, and Insurrection. Stricken Souls and most others should still work though.

You tried both alternate settings with RenderLandscapeMode?
