darwinia crashes when enemies take over canons
I'm very impressed with this game. I understand from other posts that one guy did all the coding for this game. That's cool. I am currently crashing to the desktop frequently and losing all my progress on the second to last level. My issue seems to start when the red darwinians take over a turret. It usually only takes about 30 seconds for the game to crash once that happens. Here are my specs:

I have run both memtest succesfully with 8 passes (lol, i fell asleep) and Drive fitness test which also passed. the error I get is a microsoft box that pops up while I am playing. Going back to the computer management tool within windows I see the following:
Faulting application darwinia.exe, version 1.0.0.1, faulting module darwinia.exe, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x00051b45.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....until then I guess I won't let the red army take over turrets.

Wow, after all the trouble you went through, I hate to tell you this, but your system's fine, and the turret crashing thing is a known bug. When a certain number (it's like 30-something) of red DGs or higher all try to climb into a turret at once, or all start to walk towards it, the game crashes. It should be fixed soon, I assume, once Defcon's been out a few weeks and they have some time to get back to it.
In the meantime, I suggest really, really protecting your turrets, or try using a different strategy that doesn't use them until it's fixed.

I think you can also get around this issue by downgrading to 1.3. If I recall correctly, this was not an issue in version 1.3 of Darwinia. Or, you could get a Mac, because it certainly isn't an issue with the Mac version :)

Seems the meme originated at Slashdot but made popular in 4chan.
some site I googled wrote:I don't want to get into a "who's the biggest geek" competition, but I am fairly certain the "???? ----> PROFIT" meme is from South Park. Specifically, it's from the episode with the underpants gnomes. If my memory serves me, their plan invovled three steps:
1: Gather underpants
2: ?????
3: PROFIT!
I could be wrong, but my hunch is that the people at 4chan (and everywhere else on the internet) are just quoting Southpark.

It is quite possible that the quote originated with Southpark, but it is used a lot on Slashdot. Thus, if you read Slashdot fairly regularly, then the meme should be well known. It is like this:
reading slashdot -> knowing the meme (argument)
not knowing the meme -> not reading slashdot (contrapositive)

You posted while I was editing :P
Basically, what I said was that if you read Slashdot, you should know the meme. If you do not know the meme, that means that you probably don't read Slashdot. If, however, you do know the meme, it is possible that you know it from Slashdot, or from any other source. Your insistence that you know the meme, but don't read Slashdot is a response to the inverse of the statement that I made (you know the meme -> you read Slashdot). The inverse is a logical falicy.

It would be nice if this got fixed sooner than later. It's been quite a while already.
Downgrading the steam version isn't an option because the bug's been in it from the start.
It will get fixed, I'm sure. IV are currently working on getting Defcon out the door, though, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
