My bugz

Postby Mef » Thu Apr 20, 2006 3:57 am

When I reenter Receiver most of mine Darwinians start outside Battle Cannons - this is particularily annoying since Reds flowed from Trunk Ports and easily captured my Cannons :x Some of them also no longer occupy buildings, but wander around for a moment + one triffid respawns if killed previously.

In biosphere I had one or two Reds gone invisible :? no matter how I turned camera - they were just invisible, I could only know their position by watching, from where laser sporadically shoots (stranre thing - it seemed like 4-5 meters above ground, assuming squaddie is human-height). Also when I won, there was 1 Red on counter left although I wiped them all (but this could be "invisible" one as before) .

Got newest patch. Clues??

This isn't exactly a bug. This is how the game works. The locations of units are stored, but their statuses are not saved. So, when you load the level, the DGs are not in the control ports (or whatever), but take a second or two to orient, then move to where they are supposed to be. On the plus side, this affects the red DGs, too. So, while it may be a bit annoying, and may not be the best way to handle things, it is the proper behaviour, as the game is written.

Meh, it happens. I am not sure what to tell you. I believe that DGs get narrower when they are hit, but not killed (in the same way that virii turn blue when they are damaged), but I am not sure about that. I wouldn't worry about it, as the objective is complete. You could also try leaving the level and entering it again, or de-redshirting your mission file and deleting the odd DGs.

Well I supposed this is not a bug really, but i submitted "just in case".

Other thing - sometimes it happens, that when eggs are thrown into ocean, the hatched creatures just won't come out. When I zoom on the right spot of the ocean I can hear them chittering, but they wont just crawl out. On the other hand when I reentered the same level, 3 spiders (those 'hidden') jumped out to a shore and started massacre - speaking of annoying

Yeah, that one is a bit of a nuissance. I have been complaining about the way that enemies handle the water for over a year now, and it doesn't look like much is going to change. You could try zipping an engineer over the general area, and going fishing. Virii will follow the engineer, spiders may try to give chase. Centipedes are a bit less predictable, but you might be able to get them into range of a squad.

...Or use the 'create a Squad in the water' bug to take care of the 'enemies stuck in water' bug. XD

Yeah, but they are going to get rid of that bug, someday.

...We can hope one day they'll get rid of all of them, but until then... fight fire with fire, and bugs with bugs. :D

There is one more thing, that I havent seen on boards: Sometimes, some parts of mountains doesn't seem to block LOS. I had my squads and Cannons shooting the mountain as if they could see the enemy on the other side, and it wasn't just some small peak, it was huge frickin pointy mountain there... This happened in Receiver mostly I believe.

Yup, they do that. They're just dumb that way.
