Darwinia full version, and demo, makes my cpu crash mid game. I am not doing anything special at the time it crashes. In fact I can be just sitting there, or in the middle of an action packed scenario, and the game makes my cpu crash. This is not a one time deal. I know when I am playing that it is just a matter of time before it makes my cpu restart. I do get a blue system error, but it flashes by so fast I cannot tell what it says. I play many cpu intensive games and have never had this happen.
There is no file getting created by darwinia to help me know what is wrong. I have tried the RenderLandscapeMode = 1 and 0, (since I have ati.) All my drivers are current, and have never had any hardware issues with any other games. I am running:
Athlon XP 3000 Barton Rev B
1 GB Corsair XMS
Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB
(2) 120 GB Seagate Barracuda's in RAID 0
BTW I have everything updated current. Drivers, Direct X, Darwinia patch, everything.
Any help would be greatful.
NEED HELP Darwinia makes my CPU crash....

Ok, we need to know what that BSOD says. Generally its very difficult to BSOD from within a game on XP, so something is very wrong here, but I doubt it has much, if anything, to do with Darwinia.
To get the computer not to insta-restart, right click on my computer, and select properties. When the properties box loads, click on the 'Advanced' tab.
On the Advanced tab there's three boxes, 'Performance', 'User profiles' and 'Startup and Recovery'.
Click on the 'Settings' button from within the 'Startup and Recovery' box. Within the next box that loads, there's a box called 'System Failure'. Uncheck the box called 'Automatically restart'
Then, fire up Darwinia and let it crash. Do whatever it takes. As soon as it does, grab a pen, and some paper, and write the BSOD's details down. Then restart and post the results here.

right on. I have set everything to low, and so far I have played for an hour un-interupted. Could this have been a graphical failure??? I am leaning towards this conclusion, since I have set all the graphics options to low, and since then, I have had no crashes...I acutually quit the game when I wanted to. Wow that felt nice. I never would have thought that this game would stress my graphics card out so much it would crash my cpu, but if it happens again, I will post results.
still happening
Ok, so I guess this problem has not left me. I did uncheck the auto restart button in my cpu~advanced...but it still crashes my cpu, and the blue screen of death pops up for only a few seconds...I am going to take my camcorder out and film it to see if I can get it on film...fun stuff...
