When a squad is created and deactivated, they leave behind collectable items that the engineers can collect, which they convert into Darwinia men and research material.

It is entirely feasible to continually create and deactive squad after squad, resulting in a large number of raw materials for the Darwinia men to convert. As Squads don't seem to have any apparent cost, this allows the player to potentially create an infinite number of Darwinia men, and research all items in a short period of time.

In the short term, this may be useful to stress-test the game for large numbers of Darwinia men with upgraded weaponry.
