Cart collisions

Postby chemman » Fri Aug 27, 2004 5:12 pm

When you order your darwinians to go to a cart, they do. The cart on the island you are first on. The cart not only sits in the ground (the ground is visible as if it was in the cart), but the darwinians can go right thru it, and walk as if it was only ground. Simply - collision detection with the cart

As a sidenote, the particles seem to cillide with the ground the wrong way. As if the ground was somewhat lower than it really is.

Yes, collision with the card is truly fucked up.

Carts are big objects, set on a rope. The oly right way to make collision with them is using true physics. Considering that they are nothing more than a misshaped cube, that shouldn't pose Chris any problem.

Those kinds of bugs make the game less real and less consistent.

Although the game isn't supposed to be "real". :)

Well the carts werent supposed to move in this BETA level ANYWAY. They probably just made simple boxes. They'll probably have it fixed for the final release :)

Real in the meaning of our world - no. Meaning in real of the darwninai world - yes. And in that world, I suppose objects aren't supposed to intersect one another. I may be wrong tough, but that's what I think.

You see, if in a fantasy world you'd put a Wattz Sunbeam Gattling laser which shoots star-wars like shots, then it wouldn't be real as well. And the fantasy world is as well not supposed to be what we consider real.

Have a look at that... the cart passes through the hill :D
It's not really a collision detection problem.. just a bug in the map.
